My father took out a life insurance policy on my younger brother. My father has been dead for years now. My brother died and the company says I must go to probate court to get paid. They say this is the law. I have asked for documentation on this and the original policy my father signed yet they no longer respond. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. Still waiting on their decision.

The reason why they said you the letter was not because they lost the policy but rather because you lost the polociy or do not have the policy. The forms are needed in order to give you a copy of the orginal policy.

The BBB will do about as much good for you as your neighbor's cat. You would be MUCH better off by contacting the Insurance Commissioner of your state.

Still waiting on the company to say something to the BBB. Western Southern did send me a bunch of forms to sign....... one being a Lost or Destroyed policy Notification..... for me to sign and no explanation????? They have lost or destroyed the policy? Not a good thing. Sould be a good one for the BBB to look into.
