The Wildwood parking patrol is involved in illegal and unethical ticketing practices.
This summer, we went down to Wildwood for the day and parked on a street corner near a meter. After carefully reading all nearby signs, we placed money in the parking meter noting the amount of time left. We returned to the car to put more money in the meter, although there was still 42 minutes left, and the Wildwood Parking patrol had given us a ticket!
We didnt want to let it ruin our day, so we placed more money in the meter and figured we'd dispute the ticket. We return to the car for a second time and recieved ANOTHER ticket despite there being over an hour of time left on the meter!!
We tracked down a meter maid, and were told that if we wanted to dispute it, we would have to drive all the way back to Wildwood and appear in court on a date they set. The parking police know that tourists who travel far to enjoy their beaches do not want to travel that far distance again just to dispute a ticket, possibly on a weekday.
The Wildwood, NJ Parking Patrol/Meter Maids are a SCAM and steal money from tourists.
My suggestion is to park in a garage until these people have some training in ethics.
