Basically I tried to contact this Tax Attorney via e-mail. He called when I didn't have my phone with me (I had accidently left it at home) and sent me one e-mail. Since then I replied to the e-mail and called several times... I never got a reply to what the status of anyhting was and every single tiome I called he was either "in a meeting", "at lunch" or "out of the office". I sent a second e-mail asking if he was avoiding me, and hurt his feelings and thus he refused to even offer a consultation on my case...

e-mail thread as follows:

Dear xxxxxxxxx

I responded to your initial e-mail timely. However, since I have over 150 cases that I have to deal with, I'm very busy. As a result of this e-mail from you, I'm not willing to represent you. I would suggest that you call an Enrolled Agent as they can do the offer in compromise for you, at less cost. They do some of the smaller Offer in Compromise applications, and yours would fit well in that matter.

I wish you the best of luck.

Are you avoiding me for some reason? I have called several times are you are always "at lunch", "in a meeting", or "out of the office". I have left voice mails, but I still have not heard from you. What is going on?

Sorry I missed your call, I forgot my phone on Monday and I keep the message queue full to avoid creditors leaving messages for money that I don't have. I tried calling today (Tuesday) but only got the secretary twice. I'll try again tomorrow.

Please call me at (858) 481-4844 and I will be happy to discuss the IRS offer in compromise program with you. I tried to call you on your cell, but it no longer takes messages.

A bogus report from a misguided individual

AUTHOR: Harold Caine - ()

Bryan - This piece you wrote is absolute slander and shame on for allowing you to post it.

The name of this site is "Ripoff Report". Where were you ripped off and what did you have to report?

Your email exchange with Bill Hartsock make you look immature, irresponsible and by the end, jaded for no reason whatsoever.

You put in a request, Bill called you back and couldn't leave a message as you hadn't clearned you mailbox, so he took the time to email a response.

You then explain that you missed his call because you forgot your phone and that you haven't clearned your mailbox because you are avoiding creditors.

You then take an aggressive tone and are accusatory because a few days passed without you two syncing up. Bill then responded, explaining he had 150 cases in his queue and let it be known that because of your tone and approach, he'd rather not represent you - and you respond by going to to slander him?

I have worked with Bill for years and he is one of the best and most personable tax attorneys in San Diego county. He's been a stand-up member of this community for decades and is an expert in his field.

You are running from creditors, missed a call from him because you forgot to bring your phone with you and he was unable to leave you a message because you won't clear your mailbox due to aforementioned creditors calling you. You then took an aggressive tone with the man via email and he gracefully explained to you that he was busy and would prefer not to represent someone who acted as you did.

Instead of leaving it at that, you had the audacity to act like a child and hurt his online reputation.

Shame on you, Bryan. Grow up. And to, I highly suggest you take another look at this original complaint and remove it from your site as no one was "ripped off" in any sense here, except Bill Hartsock, whose reputation is taking a hit should anyone click on this link.

He cares

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States of America)

I was a customer of Bill. My experience is that he is nice and caring. I called him to see if he is a good attorney to help my IRS audit, he gave me free consultation over the phone and invited me to visit his office the very next day. Once the retainer was signed, he picked up the phone most of the time, the only times when he did not pick up the phone was when he was in a meeting, but he usually returned my call shortly.

By the way, he closed my tax audit with no money owe IRS.
