This is my 2nd attempt at posting this note. The report to which this rebuttal is being filed is full of linnuendo and outright lies.

Lie #1: "When they are dead at four and passing on their killer genes to their pups..."

Windrock has not had any of their greyhound breeding stock die at 4 years of age. With few exceptions, most Windrock greyhounds are not bred until they are around 6 years of age or older.

Other people have lost Windrock dogs at young ages due to a lack of appropriate action, such as taking the dog to a vet in a timely manner. Others have also lost Windrock dogs due to their inability to control the animal, such as keeping it from getting hit by a car. To imply that the dogs which have died are dying because of known genetic health issues is a lie.


Lie #2: "...that are dropping dead from brain tumors,..."

According to most cancer societies and researchers, most brain tumors are not associated with any known risk factors and have no obvious cause.

#3: ".... skin cancer..."

The authors of this report are implying that skin cancer is genetic. It is not. Skin cancer has known risk factors, which include sunburn, sunbathing, etc. Skin cancers are primarily caused by UV exposure. Windrock has not had any dogs with skin cancer, I did. One of our dogs, which had skin cancer, was rather distantly related to the Windrock dogs. The authors of this post are really stretching to make this connection.

The dog we had which eventually died from skin cancer got it from UV exposure. Like the Fritzlers of Windrock, we lie at altitude (>5000' above sea level). UV exposure increases as the altitude increases. In addition, we are in the "sun belt" commonly referred to as "the Southwest". UV exposure increases the closer one is to the equator. Being at altitude & in a southwestern state, dogs and people may be more prone to skin cancers.

#4: "...bloat, torsion,..."

There are numerous studies out there on bloat & torsion aka GVD (gastric vovulus dilitation) that hint that some dogs may have a genetic predispostion to the disease. There are other studies that refute this and claim that the disease can happen in ANY deep chested dog, regardless of whether or not it is purebred. Then, there are still other studies out there that indicate cases of GVD which are brought about because of major trauma & stress. No one really knows what causes GVD. Is there a genetic predisposition? Maybe. Is it a result of trauma? Maybe. Is it the result of a dog's conformation? Maybe. No one, not even veterinary researchers, can say for sure. At this time, a genetic marker has not been found. I'm sure that the researcher, who finds one, will be highly praised. However, what is known is that with this disease, time is of the essence to save the life of the affected animal. One cannot get into the vet soon enough with this killer that affects all mammals.

#5: "...heart defects (including nine year old pregnant females that drop dead with their babies in them),..."

The author implies that Windrock knowingly bred a female greyhound with the knowledge of her having a heart defect. This lie is beyond the realm of one's imagination for the following reasons:

a) The dog was not bred by Windrock Greyhounds; she was bred by a noted European greyhound breeder, who exported her to the USA.
b) The dog's pregnancy at age 9 years was not caused by Windrock. She had been mated by Gail A. Nichols, DVM with whom the dog lived.
c) The dog was not in the possession of Windrock at the time of her death. The dog was in the possession of Gail A. Nichols DVM.

Since the dog was living with Gail A. Nichols DVM (a vet), I'm guessing that it would be fairly safe to assume that her heart had been checked prior to breeding her? I'm also guessing that it would aslo be fairly safe to asssume that the dog passed her health clearances? If not, why would Dr. Nichols have bred her? It is apparent to me that any blame, if it were to be assigned, would have to be placed on the person with whom the dog lived and who had mated her.

#6: "...produce males that are missing testicles, but she breeds them anyway..."

This is funny! First off, missing testicles are not a health issue but a conformation issue. It has no effect on their health and/or happiness. Cryptorchids exist in all mammilian species, including humans. Dogs which are missing testicles are sterile. What purpose is accomplished by breeding a sterile dog?

#7: Bite issues such as "...wry mouths, severe overbites..." are, again, not health issues but a conformation fault. It has nothing to do with the health & happiness of the dog. In addition and specifically with regard to "wry mouths", that problem can come about by environmental factors such as: dog abuse (broken jaws), playing tug of war with towels (mechanical forces changing the teeth alignment), improper nutrition, etc. The only way to determine if a malocclusion is genetic in a dog with a long muzzle is by looking at the molars, not the front teeth.

#8: "...Please visit Fritzler's Legacy (Shefaro hate site) where all of the health issues and conformation disqualifications are documented through EIGHT-FOUR of her Windrock Greyhounds..."

The author, who I strongly suspect is Sherry Faye Rodarmor posting another bogus report under another pseudonym, again is making a stretch as she is including dogs that have not been bred by Windrock and dogs which have not been owned by Windrock, such as DC El-Aur Royal Dragon SC, FCh, who is my dog. Again, another lie fabricated by Sherry Faye Rodarmor on her hate site, Shefaro Borzoi.

Another lie. There has been an attempt by three greyhound people to have Kim expelled from the AKC parent club, the Greyhound Club of America. Their complaint was found to have no merit. Kim Fritzler is and remains a member in good standing.

There are no known, genetic "deadly health issues" in dogs of Windrock breeding. Conformation disqualifications are not a big deal. They just mean that someone is going to get a very well bred, very lovely dog. What's the problem with that?

#12: "She has remained a member of Greyhound Club of America by the skin of her teeth, but she is not an upstanding member by any means having been brought up on charges and under investigation multiple times."

I saw this personally this past July when Kim and I sat down with noted Norwegian greyhound breeder and International judge, Knut Blcher (Showline Greyhounds). The Fritzlers have some outstanding animals that can successfully compete in more than one activity. In truth, I suspect that the author is tired of losing to Windrock greyhounds in the breed ring & on the coursing field.
