On jan 9th 2005 I received a phone call from a man telling me that I was Qualified to receive a government grant in the amount of $8,000 dollars. I was told that they were affiliated with the government and that my only requirement for this grant would be to pay $257.00 for a "processing fee" and I would recieve my grant shortly after i receive a booklet with forms to fill.
He insisted that me to agree to receive this offer as I can cancel anytime, so he recorded my voice as an agreement. When I told my husband he told me that I can never get a grant as I am not an american resident.
I called on the number several times to cancel but there was no response.

I went to my bank and changed the account number but even then the transaction took place and the bank told me that the transaction took place on my name and address so it didn't make a difference if I had changed the account number.

I called at the number the bank gave me and this time a woman did pick up the phone. I told her my story and she replayed the statement I recorded with them and she said the money they charged me was for the booklet they sent me, and when I said I did not receive any guide or booklet, she gave me the tracking number of USPS and said that there is a delivery confirmation. She said that the money they charged me was for the "guide book" and it was not a processing fee or anything like a grant of 8000 dollars.

She gave me a fax number to fax my story to them and now I am waiting for some reply.

AUTHOR: Rubab - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 10, 2005

i went to this site and got myself registered there and wrote my story about how my money was taken....
if you wanna hear it again, so here it is

i received a call on Jan 9th. the man told me that i have been selected to receive 8000 dollars as a govt grant and all i have to do is to give 257 dollars as a processing fee......they got my recorded agreement and also my (saving)account number...they also gave me a number to cancel if i changed my mind (which never worked)...
I went to my bank right away and was advised to close my account(which was a saving account) and opened another saving account, so i did, but even then they were able to go through the transaction on the decided date(Jan19 i.e) ....
i called my bank and they told me that the transaction took place only on my name and address it did not require an account number so it did not not make a difference if i changed the account number...i told the bank that i informed them ten days earlier about it so why did they let the transaction go through?...they said its all electronic system....

anyway i have read on net that i can talk to banking commission but i dont know what is it and where is it and whats its name.....

i live in brooklyn , New York

please help me what to do
