I placed an order through "polocart.com" for some Ralph Lauren polo shirts.  The company used a third party billing site and I was taken there after "confirming" the order.  I thought this a bit odd.

After entering the billing information (CC#, expiration etc) I received an email saying that the card was coming back as invalid.  They requested a second card#.  In retrospect, whenever I oopsed on a legit purchase, they always wanted the same cc confirmed... never a new card.

I responded that I may have transposed the expiration month and year and resubmitted the sale with the correct information.  Again, in retrospect, I doubt very much that I had the expiration mixed up.

This morning I received the following email response (Please note the incorrect grammar):

"Dear friend,
Thank you for your mail, the Credit Card company noticed us this is a high risk transaction, maybe own to the expiration, so could you send me the photocopy of your card, and the name of the card holder, we will ship the item out asap after the comfirm.
Best regards
Jason "

On a hunch I checked my bank account and found there to be a pending charge for the purchase.  I immediately called my bank and canceled the charge.  They suggested I contact the company first to have it reversed and to call back if it was not and file a dispute.

I did a little more digging on the company poloshirts.com and found out it was not a legitimate Ralph Lauren distributor.  I reported that to Ralph Lauren corporate legal department to let them follow up.
