Dealing with Henry Pohl is a
sickening experience. As a businessman, he is untruthful,
irresponsible, devious, and deceitful and lacks character & integrity. He
is sarcastic, obnoxious, nasty, rude. Hangs up on customers & CC reps. This
is my opinion based on business dealings with him. What Henry does best is: bullshit
order and/or refund status, lie about refund intent & status, put
people on phone hold, hang up the phone and steal a customer’s money.
I ordered (12/09) a low end stock
with traditional cheek piece. What I received was one with a ‘pancake/european’
cheek piece. I was charged $20 for freight which, in reality was postage of
less than $10. I was also charged $5 for a shipping container….which was two
(2) used boxes taped together. He said to return the stock, which I
did along with a note requesting a refund to my CC and my paid return postage.
No refund came after 2 months of
looking at my CC statement. I phoned and Henry told me they were waiting to
hear from me (what BS) to know what I wanted to do (replacement stock?).
Figuring I had him on the phone, I chose a replacement (MISTAKE). I was told
they would ship one with the traditional cheek piece. Weeks passed. I phoned and
was told he would call be back. He did not. Phoned again and was told it was
not shipped as they had no boxes; that the roof leaked, and a rain storm ruined
the boxes. When I did receive it (remember the
$5 shipping container)….it was shipped in a used box. The box was for a doz.
Archery arrows and the box was turned inside out to have all the writing on the
inside.
This stock was completely unusable
as the left flute in front of the cheek piece had been dished out with a rasp
!! The actual rasp marks could easily visable. (I showed the stock to several rifle/stock
makers and all concurred; useless) I called Henry, told him I was
dissatisfied, returning it and wanted a refund, no more stocks. He said to
return it.
Included in the return box (same
used box it was shipped in) was my note requesting a refund & the now two
return postage amounts. No refund was received. I called and
Henry informed me a refund would be given within a week.
Nothing. I called again and he was
on vacation but my request was taken by an employee, Brian.
NOTHING. I called again. Again, no refund. I called again and he told me he was
working on it. No refund Again called and after emphatically
stating I wanted a specific date, Henry stated a refund would be given in
10 days. He stated “ I am‘ in a moribund cash flow condition “ and
hung up. Still feeling this was
unsettled, I called back and the line was busy. Weeks went by…no refund.I had enough of his bullshit.
I contacted my CC company and had
them deal with the issue. They contacted Henry and he told
them….The stock I ordered was a custom order,
(NOT TRUE) not subject to refund. Then, that the stock was what I ordered
and that I changed my mind.
He refused to give a refund. My CC Company
told him you got the stock back and you have the buyer’s money. You can’t have
both. He hung up on them. They phoned again, he said he'd call them back in 5
minutes. He never called back.
The CC co. again contacted Henry. He
was still adamant about giving any refund. He also mentioned that returns were
subject to restocking fee as indicated on his web site. They told him that did
not pertain to defective / wrong items authorized for return. Bullshit.
I did not order my stock through his
website. I simply ordered it over the phone. At no time did he reference my
stock to his website. In fact, when I ordered it, he
specifically stated that the pictures of the stock were not on his web site. He
described it verbally, as did he with the 2sd stock.
Henry wrote a letter to my CC
company stating that he replaced the stock with the cheekpiece issue. and that
he considered the issue to be closed. He offered a shipping document but
nothing of both stocks being returned. (note: both returned stocks were
subsequently offered for sale and sold off his web site. There were pictures
and stock #’s .
How can one offer a shipping invoice
(his proof of a closed issue) when its date is well prior to documented
dates of convos with me stating he'd give a refund. One, two, three dates of
later emails confirming phone calls made just minutes before wherein he promised
a refund. He even stated to the CC co. that I
was treated in accord with his published policy of Customer Satisfaction .
However, that policy indicates refunds, refunds which he lied about and refuses
to honor. Despite phone calls of promising a
refund for the 2sd stock, he totally ignored that aspect when responding to my
CC company. Devious & deceitful at best.
He replaced the first one with an
unusable POS, NOT the 2sd stock He is like a lifeboat adrift in the
sea grasping on to people in an attempt to financially survive. When one keeps your money and the
item, they are a thief.
Obviously, he feels that if people
get tired of his antics, they will just give up. Imagine how many business instances
have not been reported to Ripoff.com
He and his company have numerous documented
complaints: BBB, Ripoff.com, FTC, police reports and more. Only a
delusional person can act in such a repeated reckless manner. Henry has repeatedly lied to me. In
reading these reports, all claim he has lied to them; refund, receipt, status.
Clearly, Henry cannot be believed nor trusted. ‘Twenty different people say
it’s black; Henry continues to say it’s white’
I add, that in 6/09 a nationally
known gunshop sent a buttstock blank to GAGS for turning. They did not
receive it back.. Numerous calls ignored. This customer’s opinion of Henry is;
he's an asshole. rude and nasty.. The wood was a $400 thin shell
birdseye maple butt stock..
When I asked Henry about this and mentioned
that after 11 months, the customer still had not received it, Henry’s response
was…….".THAT’S BECAUSE IT WASN’T DONE." When I asked when it would be done,
he stated " when he gets it"
Other phone calls were made and GAGS
could not locate the piece of wood which they received 9 mo prior. Henry is deserving of whatever
misfortune befalls him. Clearly, this man has no moral right dealing with the
general public and certainly not with customers who put their trust and faith
in a simple business venture.
He has now updated his web site to
indicate that pieces of wood are rough cut, and include defects of varying
nature but all are useable (his opinion). In other words, buyers beware;
you get what you get.
