Celebration world resort We have been ripped off and Festiva are trying to get us to spend more Florida, Florida
*UPDATE Employee: Benefits available to you
we purchased a timeshare at celebration world resort in 2007. we came back this week and wanted to sell it. It was bought out by Festiva due to bankruptcy who now tell us we were scammed and could be liable for extensive maintenance costs and our timeshare is worthless. They will buy it from us and protect us if we convert to Festiva and double our investment, preferably with their finance deal at 18%. We have signed up but have 10 days to cool off.
Are we making an additional mistake and if the company went bankrupt do we have any ongoing liability?
Also do we have to continue to pay maintenance fees or can we just write this off as a bad loss.

Benefits available to you

Our Club offers many benefits that are not available with your Celebration World ownership. For example, you have options to use your points for any of our affiliated locations without having to go through an exchange company. Don't see a resort in our affiliates that interest you? We also offer a free membership with RTX, a third party exchange company that allows you to exchange to other resorts and locations for only $117. Current exchange fees for RCI and Interval International are approximately $200 and you also have to pay annual membership dues. RTX allows you to keep the membership and only pay the exchange fee when you want to use the service.
The club is audited annual for both club inventory and financials to ensure it's continued success. Even if FDG, the developer and managing entity of the club were to cease operations, the club would continue to be in existence. The club's Board of Directors would simply need to seek out a new management company to continue club operations.
