Centurion Contractors (aka Centurion Roofing and Centurion Texas Holdings, Ltd.) is preying upon consumers that were victims of the recent Austin hailstorm at a time when consumers are most in need of conserving cash reserves. Centurion is making false claims regarding the out-of-pocket costs of their services to consumers making insurance claims and then taking advantage of small print to threaten consumers with liens on their homes after Centurion increases bills without approval.

Centurion Contractors promised that I would not be "out of pocket" for roof repairs for which they were contracted as part of an insurance claim. Centurion Contractors proceeded to inflate invoices which were not covered by insurance and now has filed a contractors lien on my house and sued me for the disputed amount of almost $7,000.

Since the house was on the market, they figured they could extort the money from me since a lien would prevent me from selling the home. As a result, I am now having to lease out the house which is costing me even more thousands of dollars in additional losses.

The email from their sales agent (and wife of the owner) is pasted below:

Max,

You would not be out of pocket for anything. I am not sure why she would think that, but the way our process works is that we will work with Travelers to get them to bring up their pricing. We use a computer program called Xactimate to pull pricing from and this is the same program Travelers, State Farm, and 99% of all other insurance companies use. This gives us an advantage because we actually know what the insurance companies are paying. The only differences that ever occur between our prices and the insurance companies come from either the scope of work (work to be done) or which month the prices were pulled from. If Travelers had their system still set to March or April pricing and we worked your contract at May pricing there would be definate differences in the pricing. When I get your paperwork from Travelers I will check out the scope of work and adjust your contract accordingly. But the insurance companies do try to low ball their initial offer in hopes that they can save some money when paying out a claim. That is why we work on your behalf to bring up the pricing to the current going rate. Our contract states that it is "Subject to Insurance Company Approval", so if they do not pay exactly what we have it is okay because your discount is a fixed dollar amount that is subtracted from whatever price we agree upon with Travelers. So you will not have to come out of pocket. Please send the paperwork to 1-888-830-9248 and we will start working with Travelers to get your roof done with no money out of your pocket.

Thanks,

Amanda Brajevich

Is this guy serious?

AUTHOR: Samuel1976 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 08, 2012

Sounds like the guy who originally filed the complaint thought he would get a check from his insurance and not have to pull that money out of his pocket to pay his bills. Hey Max, no out of pocket doesn't mean you don't have to pay for it.  Some people are lacking of a little thing we call common sense. You hire company to do work, they do work, you get insurance check, you pay company, end of story. I hope the courts made you pay for the company's attorney fees as well.

TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY

AUTHOR: Tina - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, February 11, 2012

This company has a lot of happy customers. They have received referrals from customers many times. Unfortunately for Mr. Brux, he had to pay a whole lot more for his roof than he would have if he would have paid according to his contract. When the case went to Court, after the first day of the Brux's testimony, I understand they decided to settle. They ended up paying because Centurion Contractor's performed according to the Contract and there were no defects and it appeared in my opinion that the Brux's were trying to pocket the money from the insurance company.

It is a shame that businesses have to spend so much time and money to collect what is owed for their services and deal with people who resort to nasty tactics to keep from paying their bills. This site should be for people who are truly RIPPED OFF, not people trying to use blackmail tactics of ruining someone's reputation as a means to not pay for services they received.

This website is suppose to be about Freedom of Speech and each side should be heard. I hope this post will help restore confidence for those of us who honor our contracts and pay our bills.

An by the way, taking someone's personal picture and using it to distort their story is tacky. This picture had nothing to do with the complaint or the case. I wouldn't resort to posting a personal picture of Ms. Brux on my post. What's the point of doing that?  I am not employed by Centurion Contractors and I am not the person whose picture is posted.

This is a long shot.  But there is a Ron McCranie out in the Dallas/FTW area.  Could this guy be related to the owner of Centurion?

Highly Unlikely

AUTHOR: Ron - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, April 16, 2010

I used Centurion Roofing to re-roof my home and install a new roof on my recently built shop.  I was not charged any more than I was told, although the insurance company left off some items which they replaced.  My insurance company ended up paying for those things in the long run, however I was billed for those things prior to the claim being fixed as Centurion did the work they were billing for.  I have a very large, steep roof and I fail to see how someone could owed $7,000 in price difference attributable to "inflated invoices." This has not been my experience with the company and none of the 3 people I referred or the person who referred them to me have had any of these problems.  I looks like someone trying to get out of paying what they owe.
