After calling a few air duct cleaners, my wife was told it would be $115 max. I called back and was told $120 max. OK still less expensive than some others. I have a very simple system, no basement one main duct and two intakes.

The $120 turned into $189 when he arrived. I called them back and spoke with a woman with a Russian accent she told me that the phone call was just an estimate. When I told her she said MAX I told her I would pay $140. She agreed and the tech started to perform the work.

The tech hooked up a vacuum hose to the main vent and proceeded to blow compressed air into the vents around the house. That is not how the job should be done.  When I had vents cleaned in my old home vent covers were removed and an auger inserted in the vent to dislodge dust and dirt.

I paid $140 for for virtually nothing.

NEVER INFORMED!

AUTHOR: Andy - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 26, 2013

I thought I was purchasing a DUCT CLEANING...PERIOD! Never was it explained to me that this was a basic cleaning, neither during the initial phone contact nor when the tech was on-site.

I see this thread as pure damage control to a job not done well.

I am sorry but the more I see these rebuttals, the more I feel as though I was ripped off.

That was a basic cleaning

The work that was provided is a basic cleaning, that we recommend to do every 2-3 years to keep the ductwork cleaned. We can do throughout cleaning using rotor-brush truck mounted HAPA-dust collection system, but the price will be about $300. It is only homeowner's decision what type of cleaning  he prefers to have done. And the tech explains that to homeowner before doing any work.

Not correct

AUTHOR: Andy - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2013

Sorry Adam I was upset because I have just TWO returns! and the main. One return is attached directly to the furnace and is where your tech attached the vacuum.

Whats more is a have a big problem with the way the work was performed. I could have done the same thing with my shop vac and my compressor. The way your tech did the job is not the proper way to clean vents. I have had this service performed before and have always seen the tech use an auger to dislodge dirt and dust.

Not only that but when I cleaned the filter a couple of months later I found your tech put the filer in wrong and it had fallen into the duct providing no filtration to my system.

I stand by what I said. I was not treated honestly and the work done was inferior!

Never again!

Hello everybody,

I am dispatcher for AAA American Air Duct. The price about $120 as given based on that information that customer gave us over the phone. We usually ask if homeowner has one or two systems, if one or two floors, how many bedrooms, and what kind of systems does customer have. When the tech came over he found the number of returns is more than for regular two story house and gave the price bigger than it was given over the phone. It is ONLY customer's decision if he wanted to clean additional returns or main ducts. But, we tried to give him the best price, especially that we re doing the work in the area for over 15 years and really trying to keep the lowest prices. The homeowner has got upset because the price for complete cleaning went higher, but the MAIN REASON why is he gave us on phone wrong description of the house. Please, if you asking about prices over the phone, make sure you count exact amount of vents, returns and main ducts, or let us schedule an appointment and stop by in order to give you an exact price! Thank you for your attention! Gloria
