I contacted Casual Furniture Services soem time ago about some issues I had with my DCS grill.  I spoke with Mr. McDonald and I told him that I was having difficulty lighting the grill as the battery was slipping down and that the infrared burner had stopped working.  He said he would come and clean and repair the grill and that the service would cost $205.  He also was sure to exclaim that he had such a great reputation and that I will be totally satisfied when they do our work as opposed to anyone else.

The technicians arrived and took the entire grill apart.  Once my grill was apart, they called me over and stated that the grill needed parts.  I said ok what does it need.  The Technician said that it needs $1500-$2000 in parts.  I siad that I paid under $3000 for the grill.  I said that for a $3000 grill to need so many parts is very odd.  I stated that grills in this price range should last much longer as that is waht I was paying for when I purchased such a grill.  The technician stated that the grill was an inferior quality grill and that I should have bought another brand like a Wolff and that DCS grills are one of the worst quality grills made.  I was now quite upset.  The technician called Ed McDonald on the phone.   I told Ed that the price of $1500-$2000 was ridiuclous to which he stated "My technician said a price to you"?  I told him that yes he did.  He asked to speak with the technician which he did.  Ed then said to me that he will discount the inital service, as he has to come back anyway to finish the work, and will do some research and that he will work with the vendor and get me a much better price on the parts, as he has a great relationship with DCS and that he totally understood where I was coming from regarding quality and price of the grill. The technician asked me if it would be ok to leave my grill totally apart and come back another time to complete the service.  The grill parts were all over the place so I said no.  In fact some parts had actually fallen from my deck as I saw the technician come down looking for some parts on the floor.  Additionaly, the technichian said that he fixed my starter which only worked for 2 days after service and has since defuncted again to having to hold the battery in the grill compartment to light the grill.  Amazing!

I called and called Ed McDonald for a few weeks as he kept saying that he was still sourcing the parts.  I spoke with him at least twice.  On one occassion Ed said that the price would be $300.  He also said that I didnt need half the parts the technician had indicated.  I said its still more than I wanted to spend.  I had already paid for a so called service they did and this would put me way over budget.  He said that can he see if he can do a little better to which he told me that he will get back to me as he had another place to get parts from that he would call on my behalf.  I called Ed again a couple of weeks later and he said that the price would be $800 for the parts and service.  I asked ED how we went up in price from $300 to $800? He said look we just dont want to do any work for you.  My technician would never say such things about DCS and I never promised you a price of $300.  In my life Ive never seen such a bait andd switch job.  These guys are truly a cast of characters.

Now I have paid Casual Furniture services and still have a grill in the same level of disrepair from when I started.  I paid a two tongued lying vendor to literally do nothing for me, leave me in the same place I was to start, and casue me aggravation.  Apparently Casual Furniture Services has a lot to learn about client vendor relationships.

Here Goes Casual Again Twisting And Turning the Story

AUTHOR: Rick - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, July 30, 2012

Mr. McDonald and Casual there again twists and turns the story around.  For the record, I had my grill fully repaired to my satisfaction by another company for under $100.  My burners were and are just fine, according to this professional company and not in need of replacement as "determined" by Casual's repair person and Ed McDonald.  The extreme "dirt" that was noted by Casual was easily removed by the reputable company that properly repaired my grill with a simple paperclip and the entire visit only took 20 minutes and didnt require total disassembly of my grill.

After Casual left and had alledgedly "cleaned" my grill,  my burners were still blocked and not working properly but I was charged for a diagnostic and they stated they gave me a free cleaning because I was aggravated at their statements about my grill and high repair estimates.   Further, Casual stated I needed new burners which would cost me hundred of dollars.  Casual also stated I needed new grates which the other company said are fine.  Had I listened I could have been in for a heck of a lot more.

Mr. Macdonald is a clever operator who hides facts and when challenged with facts, Casual twists and truns so that it appears that he is offering a valuable service when in fact he is "problem seeking" at all times so as to attempt to charge exhorbitant fees on the back end and after he has your grill totally apart.  Hes a cutie.  If you do choose to do any business with this man or his concern, get everything in writing with a clear understanding of services and all possible related charges other wise you risk being goaded and dragged on.  And whatever you do, dont allow them to leave your grill taken apart and unfixed.  He and his repair people have a great scam going on and use the good old "trust me" manner of getting customers to let their guard down and then raking them for huge fees.

Mr. Rosenberg is Dishonest

AUTHOR: Edward McDonald - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, July 29, 2012

We have been in business for 18 years and have been providing BBQ Gas Grill services for over 10 years in 10 states and have never experienced anything like Mr. Rosenberg.

My first impulse was to write a detailed account of what really happened. How Mr. Rosenberg mis-represented himself, lied about what I said and what the Technicain said and so on.

Instead I will take the high road and will point out that MY company is BBB Certified A+. We perform over 5,000 services a year on average. We have never had a consumer file a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Department in any of the states in which we operate.

We have had only 3 complaints in 18 years, one being that of Mr. Rosenberg, whose complaint was rejected by the BBB.

The other two we resolved to the satisfaction of all parties involved. In one of those cases the customer actual apologized because her husband did not tell her we had called and is now a regular customer.

We are honest and trustworthy. If anyone wishes to see copies of Mr. Rosenberg's order, Parts quote and Digital pictures plus a transcript of our conversations with Mr. Rosenberg, feel free to call and ask.

In closing , EVERY word, EVERY detail of Mr. Rosenberg's statement on this website is a LIE. Not one thing is true. He is a Liar.

Thank you.

Edward McDonald, Owner of Casual Furniture & Grill Services
