Words to describe this experience with him would not be enough. The job that was supposed to be extremely simple, get done and paying the contractor turned out to be real pain in the ___. We had taken him for some odd jobs like removing old wood panels, plastering and installing Sheetrock, bathroom etc. At first at the time of bagging the contract he was full of air promising the earth and the moon and had conveniently removed all that from the contract. When pointed out he convinced us with his sweet talks and we trusted him and first installment was paid. He disappears for 2 weeks after that, he returns and does 2 extremely   small jobs that were supposed to be done last and starts asking second installment. this was the stage when about about 10% work is done and he would have received 66% of the payment. Still that was done on good  faith.

he then disappears on the pretext of vacation. he returns back broke probably as he would have taken some other projects on his vacation pretext and finished the money on other projects or paying the labor. He starts to complain regarding the fact that he is broke to exhort more money. he starts to delay the work purposefully to exhort more money. We still were quite patient. He then starts to make compromises in the material and workmanship?. this is where we raised our concerns and after lot of debating he would pay any attention to those facts:. He started to use cheaper materials since at this point he was more interested in getting out of the job without any expense.. He started to ask money for core jobs for which we had a clear expectation from start and that was the basis he was given the contract?. He has at last quit the job and left it incomplete,.

Lot of items on the job are incomplete and some of them not even started and he had the audacity to ask for good faith payment, which was ofcourse denied considering his dubious and rude nature!. The whole experience has given us lot of mental stress and I would not advice anyone to go through this ever again,.   This contractor is definatly to be avoided and not work the mental trauma.  I would advice to shop around and take about 10 -15 quotes and write down each and every little details in the contract along with the exact materials, cost or maybe a picture/. There is nothing like a standard contract and I would not like any new home owner to make the same mistakes that we did while choosing our contractor.   the most important fact would be to check all previous complaints and reviews on the internet quite seriously. The best ways would be to  check the company name on Google search and you would easily find true  consumer experiences like this one, which we obviously did not take  seriously. No home owner would ever have a reason to complain unless there are enough sparks given by the contractor. So advice everyone to take these reviews quite seriously and not make the same mistake as we did being first time home owners

Absolutely bullsh*t rebuttal by the contractor

AUTHOR: RippedOffHouseOwner - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 02, 2013

I really am amused by this guy who keeps on blabbering on this contratory to the truth.    The truth is that the contractor left the job incomplete and refused to complete it unless we agree to his demands of more money without he signing any new commitment to finish the job in a stated time.    He was terming it as "Good faith money" without giving any comitments or signing any more contracts to complete the job.    He ran away and then had the audicity to do a short claim case.     You can read the entire story in my previous review.

Well in the court we were pretty much ready for removing it from short claims to regular docket,  however as you would know from the review the contractor only wanted to extract money and run away he did not want to fight is using more money.     Based on the incomplete job items we filed a short claims against this contractor as well and based on independent quotes the job would have not cost us more than amount owed to him.    This amount was quoted by us in our short claim case against him.   He fought against transfer to regular docket and on the final court date,  he choose to do arbitration.

Again on the arbitration,   when asked for his evidence he had no basis at all with no concrete evidence at all .   He knew very well about the outcome if it was to go to the court where the judge would have thrown his case out and he would have to pay for damages.   Anyways, since we decided not to drag it any longer, we had a agreement that neither he or us would make any more reviews and he wanted us to remove our review from his supposedly important website Homeadvisor.    It was agreed that any reviews before that date on any other site would remain as it is and would not be removed, except from Home advisor.

Since we don't care about the Homeadvisor site review as the real story was there on sites like rippff etc,  we agreed and signed the arbitration.   I guess he is not understanding his part of the arbitration and court judgement signed  or possible does not have the expertise to understand complex matters.      He is thinking of it as a judgement win and barking over the roof tops stating as such.      Again I would term it as lack of expertise on his part to understand such complex court judgement  I guess.    The bottom line is that the job was left incomplete and he walked away and there was no justification about this in any angle you can see.

Verifiable truth about the lie posted

I've left a detail report on Yelp of our court room experience along with the case docket number to validate the claims made in this rebuttal. All is public record. I sued the person complaining and they counter sued. We agreed to go to arbitration in court after our first appearance won me a continuance against their lawyer. I, the contractor, sued the customer, beat their attorney, won a continuance, returned to court for a second appearance and they agreed to discuss this in arbitration. If you were really cheated out of $7,200.00 would you go to arbitration, better yet would your attorney lose against a contractor. Anyway I got everything I really wanted in the law suit And they won "that I'm not allowed to mention their ethnicity". This was an unfounded request as I had never previously referred to their race. Anyway they've lied horribly about the whole ordeal. my company and i having done an excellent job with only finish painting left to be done in a 5 x7 bathroom that was mostly tiled by us, and them owing me $1,200.00 i chose to not have my money held over my head against demands for more work to be done that was never previously discussed, so I walked and sued....and won! Go to Yelp and read more about it if you like.

Horrifying Experience continued Update

AUTHOR: RippedOffHouseOwner - (USA)

well it's good that the contractor is making notes of extremely negative reviews being seen in BBB.    The above review is in addition to another complaint seen in BBB.
there might be more but not known currenlty.    We are infact contemplating filing a consumer protection complaint on the several grounds.    He had teh audocity to file a small claims case asking money whenn he had abandoned the project leaving all incomplete on several absurd charges.   We had one hearing and the judge threw his all baseless claims and currently we been authorized discovery to understand his claim of breach of contract.     People usually don't take pains to go to this lengths wasting time in writing reviews unless they are extremely being conned or swindled by the contractor.     The contract is claiming to be working for last 30 years and is boosting on miniscule reviews being done for last one year in the noted site.    A true review on any contractor would have positive and negative reviews and consumer than has to give weightage based on the gravity of any negative reviews based on his own discretion.    If a consumer is made aware of previously negative reviews and patterns being followed he or she would often make enough provisions and seek all the required answers before deciding on a contractor.  The contractor site which he is claiming is itself is in question since it never gives consumer a chance to choose the contractor and instead gives the leads to chosen few contractor based on some internal arrangement and this is where everything gets setup.     Consumer gets 3-4 contacts from the related contractors and he gets no choice but to select from the given few (2-3) numbers as compared to other sites where the consumer would choose the contractor based on reviews and gravity of any negative reviews as such.   Other sites would give a huge list (more than 50 -60) of contractors to be chosen and evaluated as compared to this particular site and this is where we went wrong in our choice as well.    When we first choose this contractor the BBB complaint (which is different that shown above)  and this review obviously did not existed and if we had even a slightest idea about such negative review or complaint even from 1 or 2 people we would have applied enough weights before choosing this contractor and stayed miles away from him as well.    I would agree with Diane who has written the review here in terms of the contractor being all talk with substandard help and materials.    He works with a team of 2 -3 people taking numerous projects from other consumers all at the same time without committing any deadline to complete the job.   The job that is often estimated to be completed within days then takes months.   The ordeal does not end their, he has no management over the money and labor, often would only show up his face and his charm when he requires money which would be often dedicated on other projects with other consumers or some other unknown personal expenses.  This fact would often cause him to fall in the trap of having no money to buy for the original projects and then he starts to purchase substandard materials and takes shortcuts with the workmanship to save on labor and materials.    He would keep on using someone else's money for some other projects until the point he is dried up and shows his sorry face again asking for money.   As mentioned by the one such reviewer regarding the workers working for 3 hours and often disappearing for hours would again be testimonial to the fact that they would be working on other projects all at the same time over other places.    He was doing the same thing in our projects as well.   This fact would never be told and would have never found out unless a close supervision is ever done and when confronted the previously friendly face would soon turn out to quite opposite.   You would soon find a aggressive contractor on your face trying to finish the projects with no consideration to materials, workmanship or the consumer property.    At that time he would seek shelter in his cleverly crafted contract that would be done in a way to con the consumer.   Consumer would often would explain in words regarding the expected work and he would obviously use his charm to make believe that it is being accepted, but would soon confront with a contract which would have no relationship with the previous discussion.     He would often estimate the jobs quite cleverly taking advantage of consumer knowledge of the jobs and then start to cut corners in materials or labor in complete contract to the initial discussion.    Three different people all reporting the same pattern cannot be wrong and all of them have the same complaints regarding substandard materials, workmanship and stretching the job to infinity and only to turn up when he requires money.  In our case he left most of our projects in unfinished state and some where not even started and he had the nerve to ask his so called "Good Faith Money' as if we are supposed to have faith in him after all the ordeal.   He is questioning the reviewer why this was not told him before and now is being discovered after a year is a testimonial to his workmanship that has deteriorated after a year and was found over time when really being investigated.     He has also questioned why this medium is being chosen is as there is no other medium to let other people know regarding such practices and warn them well before before going through the same ordeal.   I would advice anyone to consider all the facts and if given a choice make a weighted decision after evaluating all other contractors using apples to apples comparison before signing any dotted line with this contractor.  No consumer would ever deny payment to a work done to his or her satisfaction and there would be no fire without a sparks given by the contractor.
