I just received a text about an opportunity to become a "Secret Shopper". I believed in it for a short while because I had been looking for a Secret Shopper job.

At first he asked only for my Zip Code to investigate if there were opportunities in my area...to which he informed me there were many and named WalMart, Penney's and CVS to name a few. He then asked my name (I gave only my first name) and my email address (which I volunteered). Then he wanted my address and I began asking questions. Why do you want my address? For what purpose? He said it was strictly for registration purposes only. I asked what was the company's name and he gave it as DRI*EMZ Shopping/Extra Money Zone.com. Finally, he reached the point where he asked for monetary compensation. He's told me there would be only a charge of $2.95 and I could earn as much as $50 remuneration per job.

I specifically brought up that I had heard of scams out there where peoples accounts were emptied or charged for large amounts of money, or people were charged for the Secret Shopper lists...and he assured me this was NOT one of those cases. I also told him my husband would NOT be happy if I messed up with our account. He said there were Federal strictures guarding our money, that I had total control over authorizing ANY money that gets removed from our account and he reiterated only $2.95 would be taken out, and finally he finished with we were being recorded so I had that additional backup should there be any issue.

I asked him if he would hold for a moment.I took the time to quickly look them up (Google) and found many references to both company names given to me by the man who spoke to me (DeMario). He promised me there would be only one charge to my credit/debit card of $2.95. No other charges...yet I see many others were charged from $49.99 and up to hundreds.

Thankfully I lost nothing due to all of the complaints logged on the internet. I am grateful to all those who, regretfully, fell victim to this company...but saw fit to post the details of their interaction so others like me could read about it and be saved the financial injury. I pray that people like DRI*EMZ Shopping/Extra Money Zone and their subordinates fall victim themselves...but instead of fraud...may they be hoisted by they're own petard by the justice system. To those who were preyed upon may you be compensated for your loss and your misery.

Texts were not from Secret Shopper

AUTHOR: Secretshopper.com - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 20, 2012

The texts you received were not from Secret Shopper, but rather were from a scammer, using information copied from our website to make their offer seem more legitimate.  We are sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced recently and are very troubled that our company name is being used in disreputable scams such as the one you described.
