eBay Buyer Beware - Crooks, forgers, frauds still running rampant on #1 America online auction site San Jose, California

I wish it was not this complicated to understand for everyone.

..and it does not matter if it is Ebay, or Amazon, Or Walmart, or Best Buy, Or Craigslist. They are going to cry here they got ripped off no matter what.

I have yet to notice any proof the Ebay, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy or even Craigslist for that mattter is holding a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to buy, or sell there. If you can't shop on your own without getting ripped off...bring your mommy with you next time. Mommies always seem to be wise shoppers and not fools.

 Ebay would NEVER survive as a BUSINESS (they are a business you all know and not a charity) if they had some kind of guarantee that covers poor judgement of their users. That would be a disaster for any business as most people are simply..dumb, sorry to say. Really dumb. Like epic dumb. Dumb as a bag of rocks. Just read more reports here if you doubt that.

I have not laughed this hard in quite a whole. So fritz, did something happen to you after a purchase on ebay? Did a weirdo show up on your porch with your ebay purchase and try to touch you? Lol

I forgot to mention hackers, opportunists, drifters, addicts, pedophiles, criminals, schemers, sex offenders, burglars and so on. Lately, violence crimes against women on ebay been on the rise. Think about it. Criminals are on eBay right now preying for their next victim. So the next time you sell or buy, could be your last. 

I have to agree with steve too. We all know that ebay is a buisness and they have policies that they stick to but is ebay the real problem or is it the people who use it? At some point all of us have been screwed one way or another but I've never taken my frustration on the host. The buyers have to get the courts involved because the transaction was between the buyer and seller. When you go to court are you trying to recoup your losses from the seller AND ebay?.............No. So don't worry steve. Some people just can't handle the truth. Its funny that when you don't tell people what they want to hear they become very eager to whip out the pitchforks and form their own little lynch mob.

I'm very sorry to hear that things got a little too rough for you. I wish no pain on anyone. But like nathan said ebay is just a host just like amazon.com or even godaddy.com but as fritz pointed out and proving my point along with it they all have policies that are the same. They can't be held responsible. If someone has their own website and if they are caught running a scam you can't hold godaddy responsible. I'm not quite sure why these things are so hard to hear because I'm just pointing out facts.

Thanks Nathan! Points well made on both sides of the transaction thru Ebay. I stand my ground only in the sense that even with EBAY being the "HOST", they are hosing the sellers outta their profits and creating indirect animosity by pitting buyers against sellers.....They deliberately tipped the scales when they thwarted Sellers from rating on feedback. Yes there are INDEED SOLID and GOOD Business's that work thru EBay...They are few and far though. I have "exclusive" sellers that I use when desiring a good price at fair shipping rates. They have pulled thru time and again. That is being a SOLID Seller!

Overall though, EBAY has lost its flair for good bidding practice and motivating a seller to join the community.

Steve: Sorry that you chose not to see the validity of each side of this issue...Its remarkable in some ways (meant sincerely).
Hope you have better fortune and much integrity when being a buyer or seller thru EBAY... I did not have such positive results...so be it.

Here's the truth! EBay clearly state on it user agreement that it is a venue or platform where eBay have no control over the quality, safety, or legality of the items. Nor obligated to check on the authenticity of the thousands of items it auctions every day, or the tens of millions of other items it lists on its site. Thus, it was not responsible for the frauds perpetrated by con artists, forgers, crooks, thieves, flim flam, scammers, Counterfeiters, Fakers, Hoaxers, liars, murderers, racists, drug dealers, gangbangers, child molesters, ex-convicts, terrorists, serial killers, rapists, spies, contagious diseases Spreaders, Sinners, etc. Do you get the picture? eBay is not doing enough to stop it.

I'm both a buyer and seller and I have come across a lot of fraud in my time with ebay but I have also been screwed on amazon.com and other sites as well. It's true that ebay is more buyer friendly. Their feedback policy has changed but with ebay's rules criminals can take you for a ride.

I had an incident when I purchased an item and the seller kept telling me over and over again that the item is on backorder but little did I know that he buying enough time to let the clock tick past the grace period and there was nothing I can do and as a seller I have had 2 attempts at feedback extortion so on both sides there are issues. But ebay is only a host to your buisness or your shopping needs and going through the courts is your ball game.

I know that's tough to here for some but it's the truth.

Lots of items actually and I don't like all of the fees either but that's how their money. I also think that people use their own policies to screw other people. You can clearly read a few thousand reports on this site to prove it. But there are hundreds of thousands of transactions a day that go well and to think ebay is working with the criminal underworld is a long shot.
Sellers can use their 45 day grace period to bs their customers out of their products and buyers can screw honest sellers by complaining that they received the wrong item and send a differnt item back to the seller. But thats the risk you take when you shop or sell on ebay so if you have a problem then don't shop on ebay.

Only buy when its authenticated.
ANd yes STEVEN you are entirely WRONG! Business is for PROFIT and the ONLY thing with your post that made sense is that EBAY has to investigate. Praytell You really think they do any real Investigating??? NOPE! They turn a blind eye and remove the post at best. ANd that is if they get real daring! Otherwise its as the original poster stated, EBAY is ALL about Profits. Ask any seller who gets jacked up fees and can't cover the cost any longer. We have roaches selling on ebay. Slimmy , greedy sellers that will hoodwink any consumer. And all Ebay cares about is that they get there 40% profit from the deal.  I ,100% think ,that ebay had GOOD intentions with the average international website for sellers, where they went wrong is with the fees, POOR communication in fairly dealing with disputes and thinking that sellers would tolerate the jacked rates.
Bogus items are common. Short of them  selling their own family , ebay only cares or enforces the PROFIT FEES.   I have been a seller on their and felt the loss's from the fees, I have been a buyer and saw how they do a POOR job at working thru bogus items or NOT received items. All a seller has to do is say here is the tracking number, never mind that it never got to the destination of the order.
So the resolution is simple....Stick with department stores, Second hand shops and local yard sales....EBAY has seen its better days...no one wins with that company...they blew it .

I know for a fact that crime does take place on ebay. There are fakes out there on ebay that were not listed in your report. Ty beanie babies and tickets to shows and sporting events. Most tickets that are sold are simply sent via email so what sucks is you don't really find out that they are fake untill you show up. So after hearing some horror stories I purchase tickets directly from well known and reliable companies. Yes its much much more but at least you will get in.

But your insinuation that ebay is covering up crime for the sake of making money is just a tad far off. If you want my personal opinion I think ebay is more buyer friendly when it comes to sellers screwing people. So if ebay gets a complaint then in some way shape or form they have to act. If for say someone is selling fakes and you can prove it then they can be removed and quite possibly go to jail. Authentication companies can also be used to prosecute. They can point out everything that it takes for a judge and jury to send someone away.

But if you're just a hater and didn't make a transaction, nor have any sort of proof then you are a fart in wind. No one cares. That's the harsh reality.
