After trying to work with our mortgage company for two and a half years to modify our loan, we were denied twice. Once because we were making the payments, a little late but making them. The second time because we were too far behind in our payments.  They enviably would be foreclosing so we hired a law firm we thought could help, and they accepted the down payment in three installment. 

After sending them nearly 500 pages of the same information over and over and over again, they turned us down also.  I don't believe they even contacted our mortgage company.  They must of sent requests for the same information at least four times a month over a period of six months.  Nothing in our income had change from the first time we sent our information until the last time we sent it.  They said we wouldn't qualify for anything because we didn't make enough money, something  they should have told us right from the start instead of take 2400 dollars for no actual work.
