On line yellow pages call me every day sometimes twice a day I have told them several times to take me off the call list. I know of other business who also have this problem. And if you talk to them they say they just want to update your business. If you talk to them plan on getting a bill in the mail.

Updating Online Yellow Pages, TM EUR CA

Online Yellow Pages is now (unsolicited/unlawful) calling me as "One-Click Online". Same tell-tale abandonment/delay/echo. Same wondering why they keep calling me--but at least this caller didn't summarily disconnect when I said I wanted no further contact.

I'd like to hear from a Ripoff Report user why any telemarketer would repeatedly contact a residential customer that wants no unsolicited incoming calls (DNC-listed number) for a Yellow Pages listing. WTF's that about? "Thank you for calling my business at 8 a.m." and "Why are you waking me up?--it's 8 a.m." would seem to be different demographics.

I made the mistake of saying "Yes?" when I heard "Hello" as a delayed response to my own pick-up "Hello" from OYP. I can see how the worst type of telemarketer can use "Yes?" to "confirm" services (cramming). Is this the latest scam-- "proof" of an order (any order) when a callee responds with "Yes?"? "Yes" can be used to confirm all manner of services, I suppose.

I'm trying to figure out how (if) this is a rip-off. Someone's time is considered less valuable than my own, and he or she is taking my relatively more valuable time with these calls*.

There are no callers that will ever get payment for anything from me under these circumstances. I'm counting any neighbors that pay up as enemies. Sure, give your card # card # to the echo echo. That cold-call cold-call at eight a.m. eight a.m. is surely legit legit. Morons.

* My industry/location is DEAD in Jan./Feb., so there's even less reason to pester me. I don't have anything better to do than funk back with them. I'm nearly paid to do so--also, recorded calls logging, &c.

Online Yellow Pages Says Someone Else Is Using Their Name

There's a consumer fraud alert at their website denying that they use such tactics.

Consumer Fraud Alert!

I got no less than five calls from "Online Yellow Pages" between 0800 and 1500 local time today to a listed residential landline that's on the Do Not Call list. Since this has been my home phone number for six or seven years, I can't figure out why it would be so popular at the call center. (I got one from "Cardholder Services" today too.)

It's not like I need a YP listing for my home. If this is a phishing scheme, what kind of bait is that?

They called at 0800 two days ago as well, at which point I made it clear I did not want to hear from them and that I'm on the DNC list. I'd had enough so I called my telephone company. Two of the calls were traced.

That's all I know for now. I need to make a complaint to the local police to find out more or make anything happen. Seems they'll just review it and send it on to the state Attorney General (the telco already investigated and it's not a local matter).

I would recommend to anyone being truly annoyed by such calls (whatever the source) to contact their telephone service provider. It's motivated to keep you paying your bill and has knowledge of the call's source. Follow up with complaints to the FTC and FCC.
