John Wilshusen of Reroof America, the manager of the Reroof America Contractors CO office in Wheat Ridge and Denver, Colorado, has a long history of poor performance and abuse of customers and salespeople.  He is enabled by Reroof America Management Corporation, Edmund, Oklahoma.

It seems that this national roofing company follows a pattern of installing incompetent managers in their stormchasing roof damage repair locations, relying on deceptive legalese in their employment contracts to:   Relieve themselves of any responsibilities that are traditional and inherent to common industry practices and the generally accepted duties of a construction industry production manager at the expense of the salespeople, and by using the lever of delaying payment and refusing to share pertinent job information with salespeople; if they can stall long enough, the verbiage of the contract returns all the profit to the company, leaving the salespeople scraping to get by until they are forced to leave, with no resources or recourse.

This modus operandi serves Reroof America Management Corporation OK dba Reroof America Contractors LLC Denver / Wheat Ridge well; all Reroof America managers have to do, with the blessing of Reroof America Management Corp,  is hire and churn more unsuspecting, non lawyer sales representatives through the Reroof system, repeating the process over and over, thus  guaranteeing a profit.

This can be more of a danger to a unsuspecting homeowner than a fly by night taking the down paymentforcing the subcontractor to file Mechanics Liens on property, for example, which can cost the unsuspecting storm victim the ability to sell or use the home for HELOC, impacting their credit rating, and forcing the homeowner to incur the cost of fighting the lien or paying off the lien amount, and other unpleasant ramifications.

Each Reroof America manager has his or her own methods of covering poor performance and ineptitude.  John Wilshusen leaves a trail of disatisfied customers as much due to his simple ignorance of basic construction and procedures as well as extremely poor customer service skills.  Promises not kept, gross mistakes ordering materials, and improper vetting of subcontractors all contribute to a disproportionate ratio of unhappy, indeed angry clients (names and dates on file) compared to happy clients.

Mark Lenzer, Vice President of Reroof America, and J.R. Emrich, President of Reroof America Management Corporation, use this to their advantage:   Emrich and Lenzer, instead of leading by example and demanding professionalism, simply charge back mistakes to the managers pocket, who is encouraged to take the funds back from the salespeople, instead of demanding responsibility.

Time after time, my firm was required to travel hundreds of miles to verify the right materials were ordered, or that the proper construction procedures were followed, just to make sure promises were fulfilled and the work was done according to code and true replacement value (bait and switch charging for high end products but substituting substandard materials and labor is common).

An example of how John Wilshusen handles a customers concerns would be a siding repair to wind damage on a house in Golden, Colorado.  Wishusens salesperson had performed a detailed scope of the damage for the insurance company and met with the client to make sure all concerns were addressed.  The first subcontractor hired by John Wilshusen met with the homeowner and salesperson to make sure the project specs were clear; the salesperson was then assigned to another Reroof America office out of state.  Despite the fact that John Wilshusen was informed and warned for weeks on end, the sub never showed up, causing alarm in the client, who in turn contacted the Reroof Wheat Ridge office and received no response from John Wilshusen, despite repeated attempts.

The out of state salesperson had to make a special trip back to Denver, only to discover that the client had called and been blown off by John Wilshusen over and over, causing the salesperson to not only find and hire another sub to do the work, but that the materials were never ordered in the first place. What should have been a two day repair turned into several months, losing money for the company simply due to John Wilshusens negligence.

Rather than assume responsibility, John Wilshusen simply billed trades (other subs work) to the project that were never part of the project to the salesperson, which caused the job to be, on paper, unprofitable.  This in turn allowed Mark Lenzer and J.R. Emrich to bill the shortfall to the salesperson, causing a negative balance, which was then in turn billed to another job, which in turn caused another shortfall.  It was impossible to track because Reroof America Corporation LLC refused to turn over documents which proved the Manager, John Wilshusen, was indeed responsible in the first place.

Confusing?  Extrapolate this technique of stealing to multiple customers in multiple locations, and one begins to see the perverted genius in how J.R. Emrich and Mark Lenzer can make money no matter what by the encouraged negligence or incompetence of their chosen managers.  Carry this across multiple offices and state lines and it is easy to see the duplicity of all the managers that work for Lenzer and Emrich.  The most grievous concern raised is that multiple national clients were threatened with liens EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD PAID THEIR BILL, through no fault of their own.

In this case, a Mechanics Lien was filed on the original homeowner, who elected to act as a witness against John Wilshusen and Reroof America, because of the way she was initially treated.  Reroof America Management Corporations answer to this notice was to belatedly issue an illegal Waiver of Lien, after the fact and contrary to Colorado law, as a bluff to several homeowners affected, attempting to make the homeowners believe that the Colorado Mechanics Liens were unenforceable.

There are many more cases such as this involving Reroof America nationally.  Are these the type of people  you would want to work on your home, your most valuable possession?

There is much more to the stormchasing America reroof industry that homeowners have to fear than a crook simply taking the down payment and disappearing.  General contractor business practices like not paying subcontractors, salespeople, and suppliers can often lead to far worse storm damages.

Reroof America Complaint Amaicably Resolved

AUTHOR: CSW - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, June 11, 2012

My name's Craig Wall, and I am the original poster of this complaint.  I'm pleased to say we have taken care of our mutual concerns. . .

All complaints and claims regarding Reroof America Contractors and Reroof America Management Corporation have been full resolved to my satisfaction.

Reroof America Contractors and Reroof America Management Corporation are fair and reputable roofing and construction management companies, and the owner and President, J. R. Emrich, is a fair and equitable business owner, as I try to be.  This misunderstanding was largely the result of miscommunications on all sides.
