I was hired to cater the movie set  " A dogs life" for 11 days on a very tight budget.
 
The contract indicated that I was serve breakfast and lunch for 35 people for 8 days with 3 additional pre-production days tied into as well. 

The daily budgets are as follows:

3 days of pre-production  $ 500 dollars of catering for 15 people  breakfast and lunch. 
This equates to a budget of $83 dollars per meal for 3 days. 
Divided by 15 =  5 dollars per person per plate. 

The breakfast that was provided over the 3 days was eggs, bacon, oatmeal bar, bagels, orange juice, apple juice, muffins, and a wide variety of breakfast items. 

Lunch was sandwiches, veggie option, broccoli beef, turkey pita sandwiches , coleslaw and a wide variety of lunch options. 

A full menu will be presented during when the case goes to trial.

On the 7 days I was on set all the food was eaten. 

To give you an idea on the 4 production days the budget is broken down as follows. 
$900 dollars / 4 days / 2 meals per day  / 35 people  

When you break down the numbers on a price per meal it equates to $3 dollars per person. 

On the 4 days of set ...  Broccoli Beef, Veggie mix , Beef Stew, Waffle bar, eggs and bacon, on one set day over 200 pancakes were made from scratch. 

NOW please keep in mind, this does not include CATERING COST.

Plates, Sternos, Napkins, Trays, Foil , all had to be provided. 

Please keep in mind that over 12 hours of work each day was provided.

Cooking for 35 people breakfast and lunch , Grocery Shopping, and intense labor was given over these 4 days. 

My average sleeping time was 3 am , I was waking up at 6 a.m. to finish and prep breakfast and to be on set by 7 a.m. to have breakfast delivered on time. 

Keep in mind that I wasn't doing this for free, so minus everything that given to them as a service and preparation I had to profit as well.   This is being posted because I did not profit ... I LOST money during this incident and that is why I court case will be filed against seth craven productions , Michael Demas, Alisha Nieh and the school who is representing the film " A dogs life"  

This incident will be reported to the labor board, and the association of SAG to teach these producers a lesson that you can not take advantage of caterers for the work and food that has been done. 

To save MONEY I was not paid the $1,200 dollars for the next 4 days.

They figured it would be in their best interest to now bring in their own food.

I was told I was too keep whatever profits were left over, but the problem is that food was purchased in advance. 

To top this all off I rented a U-haul for 20 dollars a day + plus mileage which equated to well over 400 miles. I was charged .79 cents per mile. Over 300 dollar in excessive mileage that I'm left paying after I catered to this film set for 7 days ? 

I'm sorry but this will not be let go. I will get my money from this company plus penalties. 

Student Film Producers Michael Demas & Alisha Nieh are directly responsible for this incident.

Michael more so for his incompetence to run and manage a film set.

Alisha for thinking that caterers work for free 

Seth Craven for thinking he was on a film set that had a 15 dollar per person per meal budget. 

The projected price for the food they were given was 8 dollars per person per meal.

That equates to a $6,000 food budget at 35 per person per meal.

They were trying to squeeze an extra meal out of under performed budget. 

Myself as the caterer is trying to recoup some time of profits for the labor performed.

Michael Demas & Alisha Nieh are very scrupulous producers and they have no business being apart of any film.  I would seriously think twice about hiring them because they're lack of business sense and poor management skills make them a liability to any movie set. 

This more then anything will WARN production sets that you can not just switch caterers in the middle of a set.  This case will go to court I will the battle and get the $1,200 dollars that is rightfully mine + penalties and fees. 

A lawyer has already been presented on the case,  paperwork has been drawn up.

I never signed a release form, I was never formerly fired. 

The people ate all my food, and some. 

To top off a 3 dollar per person budget this catering set complained because they're wasn't seconds ?   WOW  seriously a joke right ? This shows you how unprofessional Michael  Demas and Alisha Nieh really are.   Seth Craven would complain they're wasn't enough food ?

Apparently this set forgot they had to raise money for this film on kickstarter to even film it to begin with. 

After all this was said and done I now found myself with a $700 dollar uhaul bill and a negative balance. 

I will come over Seth Craven productions for the $700 uhaul bill $1,200 in compensation  + fees and penalties. 

Michael Demas was given the option to pay me $400 dollars and we call this even and i walk away. he declined the offer which was foolish on his part.  Now there will be consequences. 

They can state a contract is in place, however labor laws are also in place and the court case will be the california state labor laws, sag laws, versus your contract.
