A James Foster from the US Government called asking for my husband, I said it was his wife, and he proceeded to tell me that we were randomly chosen to receive a $5000 grant because we had never filed for bankruptcy and only 2000 people were chosen for this "Grant", he proceeded to tell me that in order to get the money I would have to pick it up at a Western Union and that I would have to call 206-201-2214 in order to get a 10 digit code so that I can receive my money. He asked me how far was the Western Union and that I should go get it right away. I told him that it was 7:30pm - 3 hours later than California. He asked how soon could I get there and I told him after 2pm tomorrow. At this point I sensed his desperation. I continued talking to him without giving him any of my personal information but he already knew my name, address and phone # and asked me to confirm it which I did. He assured me that I would not have to give any bank info or money but that when I get my $5000 I would get another 10 digit code so that they could take $99 just to confirm that I got my money but it would be giving back within 5 min of confirming my identity. He said I could check the website at Grants.gov but since I didn't apply for the grant my info would not be there. He then gave me the address: US Government Grants Dept. 200 Indepenence Ave SW HHH bldg. Washington, DC 20201 to verify that this was not a scam in writing. I am sure that this is a scam...

..and you can also 'google' "government grant scams", where you will find not surprisingly..that "free money" scams have been going on for about since the caveman roamed the Earth. Nothing new here.
I googled the old Campbells soup theme some..mm mm good. Had nothing to do with the report either..but I just felt like googling a song.

..and sing a long with it! I do not know how this will help you with some scam you've encountered by someone claiming that you got a government grant that does not exist..but if we use Karls logic or lack thereof, maybe it will help?

DON'T DO IT !!!

It's a scam on every level.
First of all..who gets a grant just because they did not file for bankruptcy? Answer: No one.
Second of all..since when would a US Government agency or any legitimate grant be sent by Western Union?
Third of all..why would they need you to pay anything to confirm..couldn't they just deduct it from the amount they would be sending you if it were legit?
If you still think this is not a scam...call the US Government Grants Dept and ask. They will confirm this is 100% SCAM. Surely if there was $5000.00 there for this purpose it would be on the site..even if you didn't apply. Which as well is the next suspect matter..who gets a grant without applying? Answer: No one.

Has your husband applied for any for -profit trade schools or private, for-profit online schools or anything like that?
I had very similar telephone calls after Virginia College got all of my information whe I almost went to school there. These guys will sell basic info like your name, address and phone number to any bottom feeder with the cash to pay for it -- another way these shysters make money.
It sure sounds like a scam to me.
Maybe you should ask your husband if he did apply for a grant with these people.
