I purchased a toyota 22re motor along with a brand new head. After paying a mechanic to install the motor, the engine was started and smoke was coming out the exhaust. Each time the engine was shut off and restarted the motor would smoke. My mechanic determined it was in the head and oil was leaking down into the cylinders. I contacted the company before even driving the truck and was told to allow the motor to break in. So I put 500 miles on the motor and went through 1qt of oil. Contacted APR Auto Care and reported the problem I'm still having. I was told to put some more miles on the motor. So I put another 500 miles on and went through 1qt of oil. After having put 1000 miles on this motor I contacted the company. I was told by Becky I could pull the motor and ship it back to them. I asked are you serious? You expect me to pay to have the motor pulled and then pay to ship back to you? Becky stated that I could have my mechanic diagnose the problem and let them know. So that's what I did. I had my mechanic take the head off and send it to a machine shop to find the problem. The problem turned out to be a bent valve & broken valve guide. APR would not cover any labor and stated they would only pay for what parts were used and they would only pay what they felt the parts would cost them, not what I had to pay. I feel I got a zero warranty due to a defective engine being delivered. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Even though they offer a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty, the warranty is worthless.

APR Again

AUTHOR: D.H. - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, February 28, 2011

Well APR again is lying through their teeth to make them look like the victim. Accusing me of
extortion. I have never tried to extort money from this company. APR failed to mention how they called me and threatened to sue me for stating the facts of this case here on the internet. I filed a complaint with the Colorado Springs BBB which is a waste of time. So my only option was to let others out there via the internet know don't purchase from this company. And I will continue to let as many people as I can know what the truth is about APR.

What I expected was the fact that I had purchased a completely rebuilt lower end & a brand new head on a motor. After seeing their add on the internet offering a 3 year warranty I figured that was the company to purchase my motor from. Little did I know that I would be sent a (defective) motor, making the warranty worthless! I paid a mechanic to install the new motor, only to discover the motor came with a problem. If APR was any reputable company they would have paid to have the head pulled off the motor and repaired. But No I the customer after paying good money for a motor and paying to have that motor installed am now being forced to pay the mechanic to tear a motor apart that was not right from the beginning. Had this motor ran perfect and not came defective I could see APR saying "Our warranty only covers parts". But again I will say this motor came DEFECTIVE! When I mentioned this to APR I was told the head was from a 3rd party and APR could not be responsible for the problem with the head. I was told that the 3rd party would have to determine what the problem was. I'm sorry but I didn't purchase anything from anyone other then APR. It's not my concern who APR purchases things from, I purchased a motor from APR with a warranty and it's up to APR to own up to the problem.
So I the consumer got a Zero Warranty. I could understand APR saying they will pay for the parts had I been driving my vehicle for some time and a problem occured, but again I will say the (Motor Came Defective)  So anyone out there who can read this DO NOT BUY FROM APR.As an American I have a right to Freedom of Speech and I'm exercising that right and I will not be threatened by a company like APR to sue me for stating truthfull facts.

D.H., JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING AT TOYOTA, INCLUDING THEIR EXECUTIVES IN AMERICA & JAPAN, ARE DEFECTIVE.......

just like the millions upon millions of vehicles and parts that they've been manufacturing for many years, in my opinion.

*Make sure to type in 281113 at this site and read "SLUDGE POEM 2", which appears as Ripoff Report #281113. It was posted on October 26, 2007.

That Ripoff Report/poem was posted well before all of the 'defects' were exposed in the past two years, correct?

P.S. Don't forget to 'Google' this- WHISTLEBLOWER: TOYOTA-GM PLANT HID DEFECTS, and read the article dated 11/20/2007.

WELCOME TO TOYOTA- ONE BIG DEFECT

Response to customers complaint

AUTHOR: APR Auto - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, February 25, 2011

To whom it may concern:

The customer states that he contacted APR several times and APR was unwilling to help him. He did in fact contact APR about a warranty issue with his engine.  At that time, a
representative of APR requested that the customer take off the valve cover and
check the valve stem seals to see if that was the cause of the engine smoking
and burning oil.  He was asked to do this on March 1, 2010 and again on May 3, 2010 before he finally did. After the valve stem height was checked, the customer was informed that APR would send him any parts needed or he could ship the engine back for repair. The customer was
not satisfied with either option but rather felt compelled to name calling and
demands for monies that do not meet the warranty guidelines. APR explained to
The customer that labor is not covered under his warranty, but he did have the
option to purchase a labor warranty at the time of purchase when he signed the
contract.  The customer stated he never saw that or signed anything. It was explained to him that his wife’s name was on the credit card so she is the one that signed the contract. Then, APR faxed
the customer a copy of the signed contract showing he has a parts only warranty and that a labor warranty could be purchased at an additional cost. APR did not hear from the customer again for another month and a half when he sent an email stating there was a problem with the head. At this time, APR offered to send the head back to the manufacturer and exchange it for another.
The customer stated that he had already had the problem repaired.

The customer is not entitled to any refund for labor simply due to the fact that the purchaser of the engine knowingly signed a contract which clearly stated that the warranty does not cover labor. Furthermore, APR made numerous attempts to rectify the situation and gave the customer different
options. He chose to make his own option that is outside of the scope of the warranty and contractual obligation, but is now trying to extort money from APR by stating that if APR does not pay then he will slander APR’s name on the internet.

APR did in fact attempt to appease this customer. As a corporation, corporate rules and policies mandate the procedures that must be taken to satisfy a warranty issue as specified in the signed contract.  As much as this company strives to satisfy each and every customer, the contract does not allow for the customer to dictate corporate policy.

Respectfully,

APR
