I was in a recent talent scout recruiting class. Alycia Kaback and her boyfriend, Mike James, who was formerly known as Michael Fomkin, are running a modeling scam out of the office located at 210 East Street Road in Feasterville, PA.
Before I get to the fun parts of this complaint, I want to make three things very clear: first, talent scouts do not get paid at Alycia Kaback's company. You will not receive a dime. Second, before he or she catches on to the scam, a talent scout will have unknowingly played a part in perpetuating Alycia Kaback's and Mike Fomkin's habit of preying upon unsuspecting, trusting, young people. Third, neither Alycia Kaback, nor Mike James/Fomkin, nor Ryan Colby, has any intent of helping a model advance their career. The job of a talent scout is to lure unsupecting young people to the office in order to have Alycia Kaback berate that person into surrendering first $695 to be "represented" by the industry, and then $1700 to attend a "networking event" where they wil once again meet no one who can advance their career.
So, now on to the fun. As a model scout, on your first day, you are escorted to a small conference room where Michael Fomkin will bore you with endless stories about the people he knows. Then you'll be sent out to scout. You're now an unsuspecting part of the scam.
On your second day, Alycia Kayback will present herself to you, and go on a 90-minute, unhinged rant about all the lies on the internet about her. The trouble is, all the "lies" are true. She'll talk to you about all of her friends, and how she's won six Tony Awards. Then you'll be sent out to scout.
On the third day, you will meet an extremely fat, poorly dressed, uneducated, barely literate (and very likely illiterate) woman who calls herself Ashley. Ashley can speak barely intelligible English, but she's your trainer, and will make you role play for about an hour. Then you'll be sent out to scout.
Around this time, you'll be asking yourself, "Wait. Didn't Mike tell me I'd learn enough to run an office in seven days? Didn't Mike tell me all about these great advancement opportunities? And why oh why did Alycia, CEO, spend ninety minutes of her day ranting about the Ripoff Report?"
That last question will stick in your mind, and then you'll go home and start googling. And you'll find these links:
crimes-of-persuasion.com/modeling/onesourcetalent.html - this one describes Fomkin's link to the largest scam in modeling history.
Make sure you're on page 139 of that book to catch the reference to Alycia's business partner, Michael Fomkin.
There's a lot more out there, but hopefully this is enough to give you pause before dealing with these pathetic con artists.
