I recently had my Jeep Wrangler stored by Asset Biz Corp of Bridgeview IL., it was towed from the front of a rear wheel drive vehicle. I was asked to pay cash and did so in the amount of 300 plus dollars. While paying one of the towing attendants was collecting the information, the manager (Dan) came to the window and told me he had "good news & bad news" Bad news was that "the jeep's the linkage to the shifter was broken & he held it together with zip ties" he proceeded to tell me that I "don't know how to shift into gears".. I would like to note that my car is automatic and had never had a problem with my vehicle prior to this. The good news he stated was "He could fix it for $50 or so" if I went to get more cash. I immediately asked for his credentials because I do happen to have a mechanic in the family. He stated that he was not a mechanic but it was an "easy fix".

I refused to let him do any more damage to my car and stated the linkage was damaged due to towing from the front of a rear wheel drive. Dan agreed that it may be the case, I asked my husband to come speak with Dan regarding the issue. My husband told Dan we would be taking it to our mechanic and we would send him the bill for damage. Dan stated he "couldn't see it being more than a $20 fix" when minutes earlier told me he would charge me "$50 or so" he agreed to pay it and stated they were in the wrong. He asked us to fax him to bill from the auto shop and Asset Biz would pay for the damage. I asked him to sign this on my receipt I had from paying for storage. Dan wrote "linkage" and circled it.

After 6 days of being told Dan was "not in the office", we finally got ahold of him to speak to him about paying the bill they had promised. He said the owner of the company (Al) refused to pay it and doesn't believe it was towed improperly. I told Dan I would be calling Bridgeview Police to file a report. I asked for Al's last name and when he would be in the office. Dan refused to give me information & hung up. I just made a report and will definitely take them to court if this situation is not rectified.
