If you’re reading this and considering going to Branford Hall I beg you to reconsider.  I went there and graduated and it is a waste of your time and money.  I'm glad you're doing your homework because when I was researching the school, I couldn't really find anything on it.  I graduated a year and a half ago now and I have been searching for a job ever since.  Everything they promise you are lies and this place is such a scam coated scandal.  I don't know how they are still in business and if I wasn't so busy trying to still find full time work and I had the money for a good lawyer I would go after them legally. 

They tell you that you're probably going to get government grants and that you won't have to pay anything while you're in school, just pay off the student loans once you graduate.  Well somehow, I was denied the grant.  Don't ask me how since I live in NY and my wife and I made $31,000 the year that they had me bring in the income taxes for.  I ended up paying $17k for my schooling BEFORE interest.  I ended up having to pay $500 a month to the school directly while I was in school. 

Then they tell you that you're “guaranteed” a job because they have people dedicated to go through mock interviews with you and prep you and that they have people just to find you job placement.  That was also lies.  I worked with a guy named Jared in the Bohemia building.  I had to fight with him just to get my EPA study package which ended up being only 2 days before the test.  They have the test monthly but they didn't tell me that so I went and took it and ended up failing because the info they had on the test was not even taught in the school!  

Jared was too busy to give me the time of day so I never got my practice interview.  He had a temper and accused me of missing my appointment even though I had and email from him telling me when to come in.  He had a temper tantrum in the office in front of a bunch of people and told me I wasted his time.  Then we get into his office and closed the door and he starts yelling and cursing, I should’ve just walked out but I needed him to help me with job placement.  He wasn't there much longer and then I emailed them after placing a complaint on a website about the school and someone contacted me regarding my resume and all she said was, “I don't know why you can't find work”.  She asked me to send her a copy of my resume that they already had on file.  I never heard from her again and when I called she didn't work there anymore either.  At that point I gave up and just focused solely on finding a job myself which I had been doing all along but I didn’t bother wasting any more of my time trying to keep up with their revolving door “job placement dept.” or whatever they called it.  They have a crazy turnover rate.  When I have gone on interviews either no one knows of this school or other people I graduated with tell me that no one likes to hear that they went there because they know how bad it is. 

They tell you that they have a 90% job placement rate but they never helped me land a job.  They tell you that they work with companies that come directly to them and hire their best and their brightest.  I had an A average and I made the Dean’s attendance list.  They tell you that you'll make $20-$25 an hour but I can't even find work.  Any of the jobs I see for entry level HVAC/R techs want 1-3 years’ experience and offer $15 an hour.  No one considers going here "hands on experience" like they promise, probably because they don't even have units to work on.  The commercials on tv show a whole bunch of condensing units and like 10 guys working on them, I don't know where they put those units when I went there but we were lucky to have 1 unit to share and there were like 18 of us in the class.  

The instructors didn't seem to know anything if you asked them technical questions and then I found out why!  I was on craigslist looking for a job and I saw an ad for teachers from Branford Hall that said "no experience necessary"!  You don't need to have any idea about the products or being a teacher or anything! No degree, no field experience, NOTHING!  They said all you needed was a HS diploma or equivalent.  That is outrageous!  For the amount of money that they charged me I have nothing viable to show for it.  At least if I spent 20 grand at an accredited college I would have a degree be it associates or bachelors at this point!  I could have gone to community college and gotten a business degree.  So I wasted that money and have nothing to show for it.  If I can help just one person to save their money and invest it in their future elsewhere then this report was worth spending the time to write!
