I was travelling with my friend to Vancouver on August 20-23, 2012. We pre-booked a car in advance so that we could drive out from the airport right after we get off the plane.
When we check-in with the budget rental desk, the staff Jason serviced us. After I gave him my confirmation and my ID, he asked me if a BMW car is good. I confirmed with him that the rate I booked was $59/per day, the BMW doesn't seem to fall under that rate. He told me that we can have it under a discount. I told him I do not want a BMW. I asked him what happened to the car that I ordered. He said:" It's compacted!" We didn't know what's compacted means, so we asked if that means fully booked? However, he didn't reply us anything! Then he offered me a Mercedes Benz, which is totally not what I booked. Again, I told him I just want a small car or whatever I booked online. The reply from Jason is "It's compacted!"
After that, Jason offered me a Lincoln! AGAIN, I told him we just need a small car THAT I HAD BOOKED! He replied "It's compacted!" After about 20 minutes of HIS UPSELLING, he finally got us a small car. So we loaded our entire luggage in it, we realize the charger in the car doesn't work. It's not going to work out for our GPS. So we have to unloaded everything out and went back in.
Then another staff Dylan switched us into another small car. It took less than 5 minutes to switch us into another car. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND how come it's so hard to assign a car to us at first and it's so fast to switch us to another car~!!
When we thought we could leave the parking lot. The car inspector said there's a rock chip on the windshield and we can't take off with the car, because the rock chip will crack more later on.
THE SECONT TIME WE HAD TO UNLOAD EVERYTHING OUT OF THE CAR!
DON'T company check the car when it got return??????? Why wasn't the rock chip fixed when the previous person returned the car!
Finally we made it out of the parking lot with the 3rd car!!! No one bother to help us load our luggage IN AND OUT FOR THREE TIMES! The SERVICE is just ABOVE and BEYOND the expectation!
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND how come it's SO DIFFICULT to get the car I needed after I made the booking?!?!?! Isn't pre-book supposed to make the process FASTER???
When I made the booking for the car, it says $235 for 4 days that includes HST. However, when I paid, it's more than double~!
I got a small car that I ordered why there is the UPGRADED PRICE ON TOP OF MY BILL?? We kept saying we want a small car that booked online. Why we got charged for a upgraded price?? No one care to explain anything to us. When we had the key for the THIRD car, 2 of manager walk by and asked us how are we doing. I told him " SUCKS!" He didn't bother to get into detail or help us with anything. He just said " I'm sure you will be very happy with our cars." and walked away!
When we return the car, the car inspector told me it's $300 something dollars to pay at the parking lot. I told him I want to use a different credit card, he told me I have to go over the service desk to switch credit card for payment. The price change to $483. I asked him how come it's so much different than what the other guy told me. The staff told me there is tax on top. DOES THIS MEAN IF I PAID AT THE PARKING LOT, TAX DOES NOT APPLY??????
We really would like to get fully explanation about what happened to us, PLEASE!
