I was looking for a web designer to design my new website. After some research I found Chirag Tarkar. He had some nice references and was very enthusiastic when I skyped with him.

I wanted to cooperate with Tarkar via odesk or else but he refused. Chirag Tarkar argued that for him it was a matter of pride not to work over an online workplace. He and his team would not need that. (Later I found that he is registered at Odesk but I did not know at that point).

Chirag Tarkar spoke with enthusiasm, pride and was very convincing. I should have known better but finally I agreed to work without mediator. The whole business was 750 $. I paid on 70% (530$) upfront via western union. I suggested paypal but Chirag Tarkar argued that paypal was too complicated for him.

I did not feel good but was stupid enough to also agree on western union meaning that I had no protection at all. Full project should be finished within 2 weeks.

Before payment Chirag Tarkar was very available over skype and always answered fast. After payment was made things slowed down immediately. He was rarely if ever available. When I tried to contact him in skype he would not answer most of the time. We had agreed over several deadlines. He did not care at all about them. Chirag Tarkar would not even inform me that he could not deliver in time. He just would ignore my requests or write things like that he was very busy because of taxes etc.

After two weeks I had nothing but some poor looking sites. Half was missing other half looked like a 10 years old template. Moreover the works had not taken place on my space as agreed. The work at that point was not just very late but also far away from the quality that had been promised.

I was upset and wrote Chirag Tarkar a very detailed feedback on the poor fragments he had delivered so far. He promised to overwork everything within few days and come back to me then.

He did not change his behavior and work attitude at all. After other weeks he had done two minor changes and postponed and postponed and postponed the majority again. My site looked like some amateur s**t. One time I called him via skype on his mobile. He even lied to me and told that he had written an email to me. The email came 5 minutes later.

The mail had been sent after our conversation. And no new changes at all. The "German flag" he mentioned was one of the few things he had done before. It was just a bad joke. I had enough at that point.

Chirag Tarkar had taken 530$ upfront and had promised a quality site within 2 weeks. After one month I stood there with empty hands and no perspective for things to become better. Obviosly Chirag Tarkar had got some new orders at that point and simply did not need me.

I wrote an email to him stating that he had not delivered as agreed and should pay me back. Of course I did not expect him to react at all. He just continued his prior behavior  and did not reply at all.

Here I am:

Lost 530$ and a lot of time and have nothing in return (not even the shitty looking fragments because it is not on my server).

Chirag Tarkar: Overpromise, underdeliver, neglecting his own deadlines, lying, tricking, keeping your money. Once he has sweet talked you and got your money chances are good he will not care for you and your business afterwards.

Do not even consider to work with that guy.

Anyway I learnt a lot from that bad experience.
