This company states that they have the newest technology and they have great support.  Both untrue, they will get you to sign a lease PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!  They also ask you to setup your account with a credit card DONT DO IT!  They recently charged my card for over $100 dollars above what they were supposed too, and with no authorization.  They make up fees and this company is very hard to work with.  If your in the Des Moines area my suggestion would be the company in Grimes, IA. I have worked with them and they are much easier and a much better company.  I have had nothing but problems with CST.  A true nightmare, and hopefully this report will help someone not make the same mistake I did!

I'm also "not **TOO** smart"

AUTHOR: there you go - ()

POSTED: Saturday, September 07, 2013

People make mistakes every day.  Is that not part of being human?  So please, get off your high horses and stop judging those that you know nothing about.  They went through the judicial system and are paying their dues according to said system.  If you have a problem with that I advise that you complain to someone a little higher on the totem pole not the poor b*****d that's paying for what he/she did.  If I'm not mistaken this is "Ripoff Report" so quit talking down to the people that are trying to explain how they feel they have been ripped off.  Thanks for reading, and EVERYONE please have a better day.  It could always be worse.

Class Action Lawsuit

AUTHOR: Swaintek - ()

POSTED: Saturday, June 29, 2013

I just got off the phone with a customer service rep who flat out refused to give me even her name, and then when I asked to speak to a supervisor was told that I could be transferred to voicemail.  I asked her to please have the supervisor contact me when available, and asked when that would be.  Not only did she refuse to even give me a ballpark estimate, she wouldn't even give me a day when the supervisor would get back to me.  My car has been sitting, dead of course because this product is a piece of junk that ruins car batteries, in a Car Toys parking lot for 4 days now.  3 days ago I had another hour long phone call with another very rude Intoxalock rep who insisted that it was basically my problem and that my battery was the cause of the recalibrated device not working.  It took me putting the Car Toys technician on the phone with her to confirm that it was not my battery, it was their faulty device, before she would even listen to me.

At that point she guaranteed me that they would overnight a replacement part and it would be in by Saturday.  It's Saturday, no part, my car is still sitting dead in a bad part of town, and I couldn't have had a more rude conversation with a customer service rep than the one I just had.  The customer service rep made it very clear that she could care less about my issue and made it clear that I was an inconvenience to her.  I am beyond fed up with this joke of a company.  They have a captive consumer base that has no other options and they feel they can treat their customers like garbage.  I will at a minimum be filing in small claims court, I would love to file a class action lawsuit.  I've already emailed a class action attorney, and would love it if anyone else who has had similar experiences with intoxalock contact me at (((email redacted)))

What is your name?

To say things you did shows me how uneducated you are on the topic of addiction and how these devices and does not even deserve a rebuttal cause it was pure ignorance. These devices have many problems with them such as freeze up in the cold weather and can not remove them like other vendors devices. They detect other sources of alcohol other than what is consumed by the driver like car fumes, car fluids like window washer etc. which is needed for car to run, The biggest problem is the device asking for a test with no operator in the car again devices can not be remove like other vendors.  I also gave name and stood up for myself in court of law that far from whining for I am author of Stand Up for yourself Randy. Giving an uneducated opion is whining. I also change to Smart Start for my last 10 months of contract and had no problems go figure? and since was able have it removed.

Seriously?

POSTED: Wednesday, January 09, 2013

Would any of you slamming this company care to give their names? You're probably the same kind who insist they weren't drunk but the dashcam video of you urinating yourself was hilarious...

I could spend an entire day visiting the graves of friends and family, victims of drunk drivers, or they were drunk themselves. 0 tolerance, 0 sympathy for any of you losers. You shouldn;t be allowed to drive period. You should be in jail serving time on felony charges.

Shut up, quit whining, stop abusing drugs and you won't have any problems like this.

Someone else I know has one of these devices installed

AUTHOR: Donna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 13, 2012

and it has one of those nice little cameras and I rode to the store with this person (who had 2 beers at lunch and blew over the legal limit and I was with her and if she was impaired, she sure didn't seem to be so people, be careful. I remember when the legal limit was .12 but the Feds said no more highway funds from them for any state that didn't lower their legal limit to .08 which is why all states have done so). Anyway, after being forced to get this device installed, she almost ran off the road every time she had to blow in it while driving because she had to reach for the "hose" to blow into which meant taking her eyes off the road for much too long. She's usually a very careful driver and I've known her since we were 16 in 1970 and I always joked that my car had a worn spot on the floor mat on the passenger side from her "hitting the break" because my driving apparently scared her...lol

After enough problems with the device and almost running off the road enough times, when I was with her the day we went to get groceries, she had started showing a certain hand gesture to the camera every time the noise sounded for the random "blow" which was much too often for safe driving. Yep, she had TWO beers and that was wrong (How many people drive after 2 beers - but in many small towns, after a certain time of night, you will get pulled over with any excuse to see if you've been drinking and they will say you appear to have been drinking. I was pulled over twice in Georgia and hadn't had anything to drink in years and both times I had to "blow" after being pulled over because they SAID I didn't dim my lights in "a timely manner". Both times my reading was .00 and the officers didn't appear to care for that too much but I didn't care to be pulled over for nonsense since one of the times I was only out because I was taking one of my children to the ER because at 1:30am, the woke up with 105 degree fever. The officer didn't seem to notice a young child in a car seat in the back seat). Then I find out concerning my daughter I originally wrote about - the DMV has no record of her needing one of these devices installed in her car. I WAS willing to pay a portion of what they were DEMANDING but after the rude and insulting manner they spoke to me and then getting an earful of fax machine, I wouldn't pay them a penny. Just be careful everyone. And listen to the person who tells you that products such as Listerine WILL cause a reading of alcohol consumption. It's TRUE.

Worked great for me

AUTHOR: Sara - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 12, 2012

I had the Intoxalock device installed in my car and although it did have false readings a few times, I have not had any significant problems.  Just follow the guidelines and it should work out fine.  I have had a very positive experience with CST customer support.  Everyone has been really friendly and helpful.  When I submit a contact request on their website, they call me promptly with the answer to my question.  In my opinion, this company worked out well and was a good deal.  I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to drive during the suspension of my license.

I am not the person who had to use this company and they were so rude, arrogant and presumptious they had me in tears...t

AUTHOR: Donna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 11, 2012

They called my house concerning my daughter and had me so upset at the end of the call I felt like I was going to have a nervous breakdown. The device was faulty as was the 2nd one and was everything so many others have said and the woman who called talked to me like I was dirt. I do NOT drink and drive and my daughter's car in which the device was installed blew the motor 3 weeks after she bought it so the device was removed in March and when they called, I tried to get info to understand the details and I was basically told it wasn't their problem. My daughter made a mistake but until she had another car 3 weeks later (a few days ago), she had no car to have a device installed so I was trying to understand how that was "termination of contract" and I was simply asking questions trying to understand because until she had another car to have another device installed, I wanted clarification on the termination of contract thing. My daughter is also bi polar and needs things explained to her in detail and she was treated like dirt as well but that aside, I did not do anything to deserve to be told it wasn't their problem. I am 58 years old and was spoken to as if I was 15. This device was installed at Innovative Audio in Denham Springs, LA and when I asked about other companies, the young man I spoke with said sadly, the other companies that deal with this are worse than CST. I can be reached at ebbette@yahoo.com and my name is Donna Plank. I was also supposedly being transferred to the person I spoke to the first time to make payment arrangements and was connected to a fax machine and my left ear is still painful from the horrible screeching noise. I never did speak with anyone because it finally hung up. Pressing 3 for Customer Service should truly say Press 3 if you want to be treated like dirt and be driven to tears.

#3 General Comment

agreed cst is the worst company i ever dealt with

AUTHOR: Justin H - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, July 28, 2011

my name is justin and i was ordered to get an intoxaloc in my car. I got it put in less then two months ago and i have had nothing but problems. My first one started giving me false readings and then locked me out. It would not even allow to blow zeros to get it to the shop. I tryed calling the police in waupaca Wisconsin were mine was installed to come give me a breathalizer to prove it was the machine and not me. They refused to come out. they litterally said that it didnt prove nothing against me so its not there problem.
I then had my girlfriends cousin pull me to the shop. where the mechanic (Bill of Bills auto) blew in it.(nothing against bill or his garage. they have been nothing but courtious and helpfull.) He also blew a false reading. I called CST to dispute this lockout. They were rude and disrespectfull. They refused to accept responsibility for the machine, insisting that there was something on my breath. mind you the mechanic blew in it the next day. I told them i was going to contact the better buisness bureau and they hung up on me. It took several times of getting hung up on before finally talking to someone that wasnt rude. they still billed me for this failing system. and late fees for not sending the broken system back within two days.
My next system started failing within two weeks, giving me false readings again. same hastle.
Third system, I stoped at the gas station (sunset curve bp weyauwega WI), shut off my car and went inside. when i was at the register I heard a horn going off countinulously. I went into the parking lot and it was my car. I got in and the restart countdown was locked at 59 seconds, the horn still going off. The car was able to start without blowing. I had to call into work and drive the car to the mechanic with the horn blowing and my flashers flashing the whole way to waupaca.(15 miles or so) My fuse for my horn blew one mile before the mechanics shop so the horn finaly quit. the mechanic couldnt figure it out, nor could the tech at CST. Also got charged for this one.
This thing has made me miss several days of work, left me, my girlfiend, and her four year old son stranded for hours on end in a hot car, burdened friends and family members because they had to come get me or take me to work, damaged my reputation at work by making me late or absent, distracted other drivers by making my horn go off nonstop on the highway(which well driving to the mechanics, several cars hit the brakes abruptly, and or pulled off the road.), and embarassed me in public. All of this while costing me a ton of money and being treated like crap by the people who have the odassity to call me a customer.
I also agree that this thing is a hazzered because of the cord getting tangled, and it is loud and distracting every thirteen or so minutes.
I to would like to get envolved in a law suite against these guys, which could have all been avoided had the customer service been as much as a little courtious or owned up to a little responsibillity.
anybody who can help me with this please contact me on facebook or email me @jstnhenry@yahoo.com

#2 Consumer Suggestion

CST - Intoxalock an Arrogant and Dangerous Company.

AUTHOR: Cashish - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, June 30, 2011

Notice that the "gentleman" from CST that responded did so with that arrogant business swagger CST associates are famous for?  Everyone at that company treats you like an infant and plays the passive aggressive role whenever you attempt to communicate an issue to them (especially issues like the device giving false positives which it does regularly).  Their objective: plausible deniability.  They attempt to assume no responsibility when an issue arises (which they often do) and pass the blame off to the customer.  You can even see that in their rebuttal with his "no company is perfect" attitude.  No one asked you to be perfect, just stop causing problems in the lives of so many people and no one will take issue with you.

What CST should realize is that people required to have one of these devices installed understand they made a mistake in choosing to drive while over the legal limit (although George Bush, d**k Cheney, and a mountain of congress men and women on the hill typically don't, they're never made to - they just pass laws for devices like this and CST probably pays them to) yet CST treats customers as if they're major criminals and refers to its customers as "convicts".  That type of attitude towards the people that make your company work (without DUIs you wouldn't have a product to make billions off of and brag to your friends about at cocktail parties - sad but true) is morally reprehensible.

What I propose in order to make a difference in this case is that in the immediate if you have to have one of these type of units installed in your vehicle by law, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT COMPANY!!!  I am going to be suing them this year for major product safety concerns and work towards having them banned due to the hazards of having one installed.  The relay they installed fell on my feet while driving and my feet got tangled in the wiring at 75 miles per hour.  My vehicle then died and I incurred roughly $450 in costs plus major downtime from work while my vehicle sat dead.  The cable that is attached to the unit constantly dangles on your legs and feet and gets tangled on other components (e-brake lever, stick shift, molding, etc.) which is very dangerous when you're in traffic trying to untangle this thing and drive to perform your "rolling retest".  It's illegal to use a cell phone and drive but legal to sort out wiring and have to reach for this thing every 13 minutes to blow into at set time intervals while you're trying to concentrate on the road and other cars?!!!

Oh yeah, and CST has decided it would be an added bonus to their customers to violate your privacy as well - they're putting tracking devices and video cameras in their new model!!!  How is this legal?  Two words: Patriot Act.  Oh, and at least 2 of the guys that helped make the Patriot Act a reality were repeat DUI offenders that never had to have one of these devices installed - George W. Bush (alcohol and cocaine addict) and d**k Cheney!!  I'll bet they own stock in CST as well.
