I financed a wheel and tire combo from this company about a month ago. BIG MISTAKE! I am a commercial airline pilot and as such I am almost always away from home 5x a week. On the day I took delivery of my order, which by the way was addressed to the house on the other end of my block, I went on ahead and checked the first 2 boxes as I was in a rush due to having to be at the airport for a flight. The wheels and tires looked good and so I put them in my garage and so there they sat for a few weeks.
I did not have any flights this weekend so I decided to take the opportunity to install them on the truck I bought them for. By the way, this truck is just my spare vehicle so I only drive it once in a while. After I had installed all four wheel and tires I started to apply tire dressing on them to may them look nice. It is at this point that I noticed that one of the tires is the wrong size. The other 3 tires are 275/55/20 which is what I ordered and the other one is a 285/50/20 tire.
Since they are close on Sundays I called Discounted Wheel Warehouse this morning and spoke with a DENISE at x104. I told her my issue and she asked me to take a picture of said tire and send to her which I did. After a while I got a reply from her stating that since I did not call them up within 48 hours of receipt of the order, they can no longer do anything for me and that I am stuck with the wrong sized tire that they sent me. I explained to her why I was only able to install the wheels and tires today and told her that I was not asking for anything free. I merely want them to send me the
right size tire. I told her that I was even willing to pay for them to ship me the right sized tire and I will ship back to them the wrong sized tire that they sent me on my dime. I also told her that when I placed the order, I was not made aware of this policy, like what other HONEST companies would do.
She put me on hold and when she came back she said that "okay that they were willing to accommodate my request even if it is over the 48 hour return/exchange policy that they have. However, I will have to pay a $169 "re-stocking fee" and pay for shipping the wrong sized tire that they sent to them back to them as well as the shipping of the replacement right sized tire to me. This would have put the total bill I will have to foot to correct a mistake that they made close to $300! A new tire of the size I need will cost $165 shipped to my door! This lady Denise was going on and on about the 48 hour window policy that they have and obviously could care less about helping me out and correct the mistake that they made. I felt like I was talking to a recording that was on a continuous loop saying the same things over and over again.
This is the first and last time I will ever do business with this company. They are a bunch of thieves and scumbags. Please do yourselves a favor and steer clear of these people. I repeat, they are thieves and scumbags. Please do not do business with them. Learn from my mistake and take your business elsewhere.
