About a month ago, I made an order of vitamins/minerals (etc) from the Dr. Mark Hyman website bloodsugarsolution.com. To my knowledge, I did not check a box authorizing auto-ship (I never do). However, shortly after I re-ordered the vitamins/minerals I received two email notices -- one saying that my order had shipped and the other saying my auto-ship order had shipped. I was curious because I'd gotten several emails offering me a free month of nutrition counseling but when I went to sign up, it was clear to me that I was not signing up for a free month but for auto-paying (monthly) of a $19.95 bill with no visible way to opt out. So today I called. I got a service representative (who I later learned was named Laurie Roman) who said I should just reject one of the two shipments and they'd credit my card (of course that could take days and/or weeks). I was curious so I asked about the nutrition counseling saying I was worried that it was "bait and switch" at which point she hauled off and started ranting at me about what a horrible person I was and how she worked for a reputable operation (strange she needed to say that). She was awful, so mid-rant, I hung up on her. Later, I decided I should call back and speak to her supervisor. I called and asked if she was the person I'd spoken to before. She said no. So I started to discuss my concern about the "customer service" (dare I say "disservice") attitude I'd gotten from the person earlier. Well of course, it was the same person, only she lied and said she hadn't talked to me until I suggested that the "supervisor" talk to the person I'd dealt with earlier. Another giant rant ensued and then she hung up on me. The point here is twofold. First: I am the customer and shouldn't be yelled at. Second, I think her ranting is to obscure/disguise/divert attention from the fact that Dr. Hyman (he of Public Television and all sorts of santimonious posts on Facebook etc) is relying on a boiler mill fulfillment service for his vitamins and the latest mail-order scam, which is auto-ship you can't unsubscribe from
