This afternoon at around one o'clock Alberta time near Clareview LRT station, I was approached by a driver who introduced himself as an Italian who had been for a fashion show in Edmonton, Albeta Canada; and his flight was due at four o'clock, but he had some jackets which he could'nt take back to Italy and wanted me to buy. At first I was not ready to buy and he and his friend insisted on how expensive the items were, and he would jus sale one to me and give the rest (Ten pieces) free. Well, I called my wife and we drove to meet my wife checked the items they seemed to be real since we did not take keen look at them. He had even gone beyond by using flame from his lighter to show us that the items where made of real leather. Unfortunately we paid this man 600 Canadian dollars, but a while I tried to check one of the jackets by scratching from inside the pocket and realised it was a fake one. Although he had given me a business card bearing name of the director and telephone, I think all are fake cards. Thus, please do not be fooled by these Italians who seem to be honest about their business.

Same thing happen to me I was approach by this guy stating that he needs to get rid of this leather due to high tax at the airport.same exact setuation as the guy posted below.this happen in Oakland California by the airport.he was asking 600 for 4 leather but I paid him 200.my mistake I should have check it on the internet before I decided to buy it. Please people do not fall for this scam

I have just suffered this very same indignity, in a very different location on 4th November 2011. This happened in London, UK, off of Edgware Road, exact same format - Are you Italian, I cannot pay for excess luggage, then tried to barter me for price.

  Yeah, the Italian on the way to the aiport is one of the older scams.  It's right up there with the guy who has a great deal on audio equipment in his van.   What you got was a cheap knockoff, worth probably half what you paid for it.
