We paid $1000 to have a couch, chair and dining table set moved from Ohio to South Carolina. We purchased the moving insurance that would cover any damaged items. We took pictures of all the items for proof that they where in perfect shape before they were moved. When the items arrived in SC for my 87 year old grandmother the guys set up the dining table and one of the legs was broken. They rushed off and my grandmother sent me pictures of the broken leg.

I filed a claim with them asking for $200 to fix the table leg. They denied my claim and said they weren't going to do anything to help with the repair of the table they broke. I filed and claim with the BBB and this company told them the same thing. They did not want to honor the insurance or fix the table that they broke. They said I could take them to court but that would cost me more then the moving expenses. I don't want something for nothing just for them to fix what they broke.

I was quoted one price in writing but when the driver got there they charged us an additional $80 to "Carefully" pack the items or I could opt to just have them thrown on the back of the truck. I called the office while the driver was there and was told "To bad. Whatever the driver says goes.". No customer service and not professional at all.

Company full of lies

AUTHOR: Eric - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, October 22, 2013

There was NO damage to the items. I have all the original paperwork that the driver and I signed at the time the items where picked up. I also have pictures to prove my case. The items were damaged by E-Z Movers period. Do not use this company. THey lie and they will not provide good customer service. They suggest I take them to court or movers arbitration which they know will cost me more then the repairs to the item they damaged. If they know a good handyman or company that will fix the table that would have worked as well.

But they are insistant on the fact that the insurance you purchase from them is worthless. Please use anyone else to move your stuff. I would have been better off using Joe Smucks moving. At least then I would have known that my stuff could get damaged. Once again I state, I have the original paperwork that states, "No damage to items" and I have time stamped pictures. They broke the table and refuse to fix it or solve the problem. This is a shady way to do business.

Adrian, never stated that I would be charged additional money to "carefully" pack my items. He said that the price I was quoted in writing was the entire price with no added fees. That also included the insurance. What a lie. They just want your money and don't care about providing a good service. Look at their other online reviews. They are a 1.5 out of 5. I wish I had done my homework before losing $1000 and having my table broken. Plenty of unsatisfied customers. 2 Men and a truck would have been better. Or AAA movers.

Eric,

EZ Movers denied your claim for two reasons:

     1) There were no notes on the inventory pages as instructed by the contract.

     2) There was pre-existing damage/normal wear and tear to all the furniture we relocated as indicated by the            foreman on the inventory page at the pickup location.

If you feel the resolution to your claim is unfair, I would like to advise you that we have a membership with the American Moving and Storage Association and their program for arbitration. If you would like to file arbitration, you can get the process started by visiting their website: www.moving.org.

As for the packing charges, we charged for tape, shrink wrap, and a warddrobe box. That has nothing to do with your table. We probably just used moving pads and this was acceptable to whoever was at your pickup location acknowledged pre-exisitng damages on all of the furniture.

We maintain our stance on this matter.

Sincerely,

EZ Movers
