HERTZ con artists at it again.

I rented a vehicle, while I was booking my flight on Delta to the Albany, NY airport. The rental agent in Albany, said she didn't know anything about LDW (loss damage waiver). I declined it and handed her my car insurance proof, she dismissed it. Then she asked if I wanted to pay for gas now or bring it back and they would fill it for a lower fee. Only having driven less than 100 miles or 1/2 tank of gas I was charged $62.98!!! I could have filled 2 cars for that. Then there is a fee I was never told about, the Concession Fee Recovery of $33.27. No one can seem tot ell me what this "fee" is other than its an undisclosed ripoff.

When I contacted HERTZ the woman said "oh well". Their problem becomes I declined all services on this agreement some they have as declined those above they don't  Gone are the days of the paper agreeement where one would initial any declined services, now you just sign an electronic pad and hope for the best?!  I am done with this rip off company and it "fees" and agents who don't listen just do what they want.

NOTE TO HERTZ and DELTA: Good Bye!

Guess I missed something..

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Did I miss where you were charged for services you declined?

You stated you declined the LDW.  Okay..no where else in your report do you say you were charged for it.

You state you declined the Pre-Pay fuel option..instead were charged for not returning your car with a full tank.

You state you were charged for a "Concession Fee".

It is obvious you probably haven't rented a car in several years, or you just never noticed things before.

Because the "Concession Fee" is a fee that Hertz has to pay to the Airport Authority for the honor of being able to do business at the airport.  But just like any other tax and fee...the cost of that is not paid by the company it is passed along to the consumer.  It is disclosed(yes even on those electronic pads) and the only way to decline it is to not rent a car.

As for the fuel.  Every car rental agency requires you to return the car with the same level of fuel as it was rented with.  Many have even gone to requiring you to show a receipt proving you filled it back up.  If you don't fill it up before you return it(and didn't pre-pay for your fuel) they charge you to fill it up which includes a very heafty service fee.  I am pretty sure that you mis-heard the agent in telling you it was cheaper to just bring it back, most likely she said it is cheaper if you fill it up on your own before bringing it back.

But perhaps if you complain enough you may get them to waive some of the fuel charge..but you will not get them to waive the concession fee or any other taxes.

If you have a real complaint..You should be complaining about a car that uses a half a tank of gas in less than 100 miles.
