My husband received a phone call from an USA number about his CV he had posted on a careers website. They man on the phone 'Juan" advised him that they were interested in employing him but noticed he did not have a degree. He then advised that it was possible to get a Prior Learning Assessment from a University and directed him to hansforduniversity.com. Here he was connected to a live chat. The chat was passed around people with very ordinary/ contrived sounding names and when "Jack Robson" called, he was clearly Indian.
I was becoming increasigly skeptical and more so when the details of the "course" were given. I searched for information on the University while my husband was on the phone and found that the website had only existed for 2 months and the only other information was on prweb.com and also some poor quality acted out videos on vimeo. There are also mock-ups of very fake looking certificates.
Then they requested a bit too much information and also informed us of a $400 registration fee and $200 to send certificate. i advised my husband to terminate the call. It seems that they are accessing people's CV's and profiles on careers websites and targeting those which do not have degrees and using this as a database to call and try and initiate payment.
