Home Comfort Experts came to our flowershop to do one of their "check-ups" by two of their so called "experts" on an AC unit on 6/19/12. The unit was operational the night before, but we were informed the morning they arrived that the unit was "done" and the compressor was shot. (?) They charged us $79.95 for the "check-up" and left. Soon after it was discovered that they had spilled or leaked black oil all over the garden around the unit. The hard rain storm that afternoon short-lived, but it was enough to soak the oil into the ground and kill many of the plants, flowers and shrubs in the garden. I was devistated at the damage!
I called the company numerous times to speak to someone of a managerial position, but this company does NOT readily return phone calls! Finally I was able to speak to the owner, (Mr. Mann) explained (again) that their "techs" had ruined the garden with oil. The owner spoke evasivley, acting almost ignorant as to how the oil got their in the first place, stating that their workers don't carry oil on the trucks! ???? This made me particularily angry and I told him the oil obviously came from the AC unit (and not any truck) and that he needed to come out to the property and look at the mess himself!
Upon his arrival, Mr. Mann witnessed the damages, promised this horrible situation would be cleaned up, and said I would receive a refund of monies paid so that I may replace the dead plants and shrubs.
The designated day came, (Monday) and no one came. At approx. 3:00 - 3:30pm in the afternoon I, once again had to call HCE to inquire why no one had shown. It was only then that Mr. Mann informed me that it had been decided that the oil spill was our fault and they had no intention of taking any of the blame.
Consumers!!! Do not make the same mistake that we did! Do your homework when hiring anyone to do anything when you pay with your hard earned dollars, particularily with this company!
