I was contacted by a gentleman named Mark Evans, he contacted me with the intention of discussing job details, but instead just went benefits and pay that were well above the industry standard. He offered me a position for $17/hour with full medical/ dental benefits and the opportunity for promotion within as little as 90 days. He mentioned that they were an environmental/hazmat cleaning company, but kept changing the subject anytime I asked him specific questions about the position. Fortunately, this aversion to my questions raised the initial red flag for me. I was absolutely certain it was a scam when he mentioned going to a Walgreens to start processing a background check. He mentioned that the company required employee candidates to pay $89.00 for their own background check! I hung up on him and went straight to this website to help prevent anyone from falling for this scam.
No legitimate company EVER requires the candidate to pay for their drug test or background check, please do not fall for this! Besides, a simple Google search illustrates that Import Medical is not a recognized or even existent business in the Denver, CO area.
If someone contacts you by the name of Mark Evans, Mark Davis or whatever other last names he is using and mentions the company Import Medical please don't give him the time of day. Just in case he is giving additional company names, don't return any calls to 303-223-6480.
If you have any further information as to the true identity of Mark Evans, I would love to report him to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Internet Crime Complaint Center and the Federal Trade Commission. The last thing today's job seekers deserve is to fall victim to a scam!

So I asked the price of that, and he said $89.00 -- but it's no big deal, he said, cuz after all they're paying for the drug test. When do I take the drug test? As soon as I pass the background check, i.e. after they've cheated me out of my cash and disappeared - so, like, never.
I'm sure that by now, we've all heard about this scam - a "company" contacts you, says they like your resume & have lots of positions, etc. but they need to run a background check and they need you pay for it. You pay them and never hear from them again, or they tell you the position they wanted you for isn't available - but hey, they'll keep you in mind "for future placement" in a job that doesn't exist. (If you didn't know about this scam, I guess you do now.) But I'm curious, so I decide to hear the guy out. He says this is the last date of their hiring quarter so if I want to be on the job by September 10th, I'd have to wire him the money from a Western Union or a local drug store. I pretended to be really interested, told them I'd call them back as soon as I found a place to wire him the cash, and hung up. Then I came to Ripoff Report so I could tell you all about it. BTW, I'm in NJ, not CO -- so I guess they're branching out.
I guess this is the price we have to pay for job-hunting now, huh? So many scammers out there, and they just have to go online and find your resume to reach out and take your money. Well, at least now we know. If you get a call from these guys -- or *ANYONE* asking you pay for anything a reputable company takes care of itself -- either hang up or start messing with them, cuz they're frauds.
