, I will NOT be going there again and will be telling people NOT to go there. Ending up paying for two coffees at 2.29 each that I didnt order. The coffee at the ihop is placed on the tables before patrons arrive. If they use it, or ask for a cup, they are charged without being given the price. I felt the container and noticed it was very warm. I wanted to have some. The waiter said, "I will get you a newer pot." I said it was ok. he came back with two coffee cups. But never was I given the price of the coffee or that it was for sale.
Alfedo's logic is that the coffee is put on every table to show it is for sale. He said I should ASSUME it was for sale. However, I mentioned that water, salt, pepper, napkins, and syrup is on the table, too. He replied that 'yes, it is, but water and syrup are free'. How am I supposed to know what is and isn't free?. I want to order a meal and not have to read through a menu for several minutes looking for the fine print to find out if I am charged for coffee. Although we ordered three meals, we never got a juice or beverage. My wife had half a cup but was still charged 2.29. For lousy, watered down overpriced coffee. That's 4.58 for a cup and a half of coffee.
Never going there again. After calling the manager Alfredo ?? I realized he is in on the SCAM, too. I thought he would have had a conscience, but I can see that he comes from a place where cheating people or being a moral hazard isn't considered wrong. Also, one of the waitresses at the restaurant was eating food while she walked down the aisle.

IHOP Has the strongest, Bitterest Coffee around. When I go I drink Orange Juice, BECAUSE it's so strong.

I LOVE that place. How can ANYONE find a reason to complain about IHOP? I go there for breakfast a few times a year..never noticed they offer free coffee.
Do they offer free coffee?, or is this report a hoax?

Sorry, you cannot tell me NOT to go there. That's my decision.
I have been to IHOP many time, I like it and have never had an issue relating to coffee or anything else. Like every restaurant I have even been to, I expect to pay for coffee.
I expect the last poster was correct and you were trying to get something for nothing. I'm sure they won't miss you.

Common Sense

Coffee is rarely ever free and definitely not free in a restaurant setting. Use your common sense and if you're not sure if something has a price on it then just ask. I get the suspicion that you not asking and just assuming something was free of charge because it was sitting on the table, was because you were hoping to argue about it and get it free. And when the IHOP employees didn't fall for it, you decided to write this report. I hope I'm wrong but more than likely I'm right and if that is the case you should be ashamed.
