Internet Local Listings contacted me this morning impersonating a google representative trying to sell me front page listing on Google. When I expressed interest the man connected me with a "marketing specialist".
I recieved the information and said I would call them back. after researching thier product I found that I already had the services they are selling, and these services are completely free. The scary part about this is that any business that doesn't have thier business verified with google will be under the impression that they are getting a legitimate service directly from google.
Just verifying your business with google can give you a free front page local listing when someone researches relative keywords to your business.
$300 dollars to start and 150 a month for a free service, unfortunately only business owners with a respectable knowledge of SEO can spot this scam and many businesses will be scammed out of thousands of dollars until this operation is shut down.
It was reported to the federal trade commission and with a little help hopefully we can get the people behind this deceptive operation locked up.
