I signed up for a "free" trial of the Playplob online entertainment service. I provided my required credit card number to complete the registration. Deliberately obfuscated in their agreement is that your account will automatically switch to "premium" at the end of this trial and they will charge you $34.95. If you then try to cancel your account using their website, they will charge you an additional $.99 convenience charge, plus $.01 if you cancel during the free trial. Or you can call their phone number and cancel the account for free. No doubt they will click on the same cancel button the user would. This business model clearly has nothing to do with providing a valuable service to users, and is simply taking advantage of people that do not thoroughly read and digest the agreement. A free trial is usually free, and if the service can stand on its own merits, the user will deliberately agree to them. It says a lot when the very first question in your FAQ is "Q : Why was I billed $34.95/$39.95 when I signed up for a free trial?"
