This is the WORST company I have ever worked for. They always want you to pay for sh*t. You will never make any money working for Panther. If your truck break down in the middle of nowhere, guess what your a** is grass if you don't have the money to pay for repairs because they are not going to pay for SH*T. I own my own truck and have not made any money working for them because you always have to ask for fuel allowance but then you will get some racist dispatcher on the phone who has a funky attitude and they don't want to load money on the card.
God forbid if it a holiday you will sit the whole weekend and come Monday you still have to call in and beg for a load.
Oh and lets not forget the paperless log system on the Q/C. If you go over 1 sec she is blowing the d**n horn like she is the police. WTF
The recruiter lie to you by not telling you the whole story, how can you make $16,000 a month when you sit most of the time. They must be doing that new math. You only get one meal a day which is lunch. You have to pay for your own hotel. If you don't have any money I suggest you stay the hell away from Panther because driving for these guys will put you in the homeless shelter, no lie.
Your truck will always be on "E" they only pay you 45% of the load after you leave the loading dock but then you have to keep checking to make sure they loaded your card. Starting Jan 1 they will load 50% on your card, wow a whole 5% woo, h*o!! The fuel is not going to get you from point "A" to point "B" you will have to call in to get another fuel allowance maybe if you get a "good" dispatcher he/she will load you about $100 for fuel but you might get one of those who has a chip on his/her shoulder and fell out the bed on his/her head that morning.
You also have to pay your own tolls and they are not going to reimburse you every dime that you spent on tolls, you have to neg a price with the dispatcher before taking the loads and most of their loads are for a small truck not a tractor trailer. BEWARE, they like to send you in residential areas, where there are no trucks allowed so if you get stopped by the police, you will have a very HEFTY FINE TO PAY. Panther is not going to pay it. So you better think twice.

Furthermore, as an "independent contractor" you are supposed to pay for things!
If you don't want to pay for things get a JOB where you are an EMPLOYEE.
Anyone who believes a recruiter is a MORON.
Racist? Now I know what we are dealing with here. Yeah, play the race card whenever something doesn't go your way.
As an owner operator you always pay for your own fuel, tolls, hotels, etc. That is the way it works in the real world. These expenses are all tax deductible as business expenses.
You are LUCKY they give fuel advances, as MOST companies DO NOT.
YOU are the "business owner" and as the business owner all costs associated with running that business are yours.
This is exactly why newbies should not get into the owner operator or lease business. Start out as a company driver until you learn how things work.
Also, as an owner operator NEVER accept an agreement that just states a percentage of the load as payment because that is how they get you. What if they take extremely cheap freight and you are on a percentage? You just took a load for less than it cost to run your truck down the road!
ALWAYS stipulate a minimum cost per mile in any contract, and if they won't do this you need to just walk away.
Do you even know what you actual cost per mile to operate is? I would bet you have no idea.
I can tell you what the average cost per mile to operate was6 years ago when I got off the road as an owner operator.
