We booked this rental property nearly 7 months in advance. Spoke to the owner over the phone to verify the rental dates and times, and we paid up front in full! When we arrived the owner had put us in a less attractive & smaller size unit. Claiming that he had two houses and that there must have been some mistake. He did offer us a partial fitting to a CROOK! He would refund $500 if we left immediately and give us a Free week next year at the original house we booked! What a joke, my family and i are stranded, spending over $3,000 to fly there alone, we have 2 newborn twins and a 5 year old and he says go now and come back next year. The owner Paul Arranaga is a complete Scam Artist! We had no choice, come to find out it was his own home, where he lives! So there was dirty clothes, a lot of weird erotic candles, and little to no utensils. Not to mention the place was 3 bedrooms not 4, so when my brother arrived with his wife, i had to rent them a hotel room which cost me an additional $3,000 for the week because we didn't get the place we booked and paid for in advance. Paul has refunded us nothing for his mistake, provided no compensation, and feels he did nothing wrong. We are filing a lawsuit against Paul Arranaga in the amount of $21,354 the total we lost during the trip. DO NOT RENT OR DO BUSINESS WITH THIS OWNER, YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY!!!

FINAL JUDGEMENT IN FAVOR OF PAUL ARRANAGA

AUTHOR: Jeff LL - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, March 13, 2016

Joshua Lindsey recently posted a document on this site claiming that he had obtained a judgement against Paul Arranaga. It was a default judgement, which is entered by the court when one of the parties does not appear in court on the date of the hearing.

What Joshua Lindsey also fails to mention is that Paul Arranaga was not personally served by Joshua Lindsey. Mr. Arranaga was served by publication. Paul Arranaga lives in Southern California and has never been to Utah. Joshua Lindsey filed the lawsuit in Salt Lake City Utah, knowing that Paul Arranaga would not have an opportunity to submit evidence of Joshua Lindsey's scam to the court, and with the hope that he would gain some leverage in his plot to shakedown Mr. Arranaga.

Upon learning of the default judgement, Paul Arranaga contacted Joshua Lindsey's attorney and provided him with documentation evidencing Joshua Lindsey's scam and attempts to shakedown Mr. Arranaga out of $21,000.

The judgement against Paul Arranaga was immediately dismissed with prejudice and the court has barred Joshua Lindsey from pursuing his false claim against Paul Arranaga. The court order against Joshua Lindsey is uploaded on this site.

According to posts on the internet, Joshua Lindsey has scammed a lot of people. Paul Arranaga is an honest, successful businessman with two vacation beachfront homes in Southern California. He contantly receives positive reviews and repeat vacationers. There have been no complaints of his businesses or rentals. Except for one--from Joshua Lindsey.

Paul Arranaga is a SCAMMER

AUTHOR: Jeff N - ()

POSTED: Friday, September 05, 2014

Based on reading the latest comments Paul has obvously scammed more than one person, as i have no idea who this Josh guy is. I do know that Paul did scam us by renting us the wrong property and did not refund us our money. This post was merely to inform other about Paul and his Rental Scam, this guy is a crook and has scammed me and obviosly other peopoe in the past.

We have reported him to the police in california so that if he contines to scam others they will eventually show a patern and put this guy away. People dont just come to these webistes and waste time posting complaints, they come here when they have been scammed or wronged by someone. In my case Paul Arranaga scammed me & I am warning others of his behavior.

You can try and defer attention to Josh, Johnny, or billy bob for that matter but at the end of the day you stole from me & you are the one who has to deal with a higher judgment.

JOSHUA LINDSEY SCAM ARTIST 2014

AUTHOR: jeffl - ()

POSTED: Friday, August 29, 2014

The person who posted this complaint entered into a rental agreement with Mr Arranaga under the name Joshua Lindsey. A web search under the name Joshua Lindsey Utah, which was conducted after doing business with Joshua Lindsey, revealed that Mr. Lindsey has many complaints against him on this website and similar websites. According to the other complaints against him, he makes his money from scams and lawsuits. Among many other scams, he accuses a person of defrauding him, then demands money and threatens to file a lawsuit for an inordinate amount of money. When Joshua Lindsey's target refuses to pay, he again threatens to file a lawsuit, post complaints such as the one above and/or post negative reviews of the persons' businesses or properties.  This is a clear attempt to shake down Mr. Arranaga for money-his most recent demand was for $21,561.00. Please read the above rebuttal by amcesq for a more detailed account of Mr. Lindsey's scam.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Joshua Lindsey(AKA Joshua Lindsay) pays with a CREDIT CARD-then has the charges REVERSED.

Mr. Arranaga had the misfortune of allowing Joshua Lindsey to rent one of his vacation homes.  In this case, Joshua Lindsey was made aware in March 2014 that the house he wanted to rent in August was not available. Mr. Lindsey's wife contacted Mr. Arranaga later and inquired about the same property, without disclosing that she was the wife of Joshua Lindsey(she has an entirely different last name that does not include "Lindsey"). She also was told that the property she wanted to rent was unavailable, but that another similar property of Mr. Arranaga's was available in the same location.  She agreed to rent the second property at a discounted rate. Mr. Lindsey and his wife signed a rental agreement. When the couple arrived, they complained that they wanted the first property, in spite of the fact that they knew it wasn't available(all documented in emails). Although the mistake was on the part of Mr. Lindsey and his wife, Mr. Arranaga offered them a free week at the first property next summer and cash-a value of $7000- as a gesture of good will.  Mr. Arranaga believes now that Mr. Lindsey and his wife had planned this from the start in an attempt to get a free vacation and some cash. They did stay in the subject property and appeared to be having a great time on the beach and enjoying his house.

I am a longtime neighbor and friend of Paul Arranaga's and was witness to this scam that Joshua Lindsey has attempted. Paul's guests have always been pleasant and truly enjoy his homes, as they are some of the nicest on this street.  My family have become friends with many of them, as most of his guests are repeat vacationers to his homes here on Beach Road.

Jeff N. a/k/a Joshua Lindsey, Salt Lake City, Utah

AUTHOR: amcesq - ()

POSTED: Friday, August 22, 2014

"Jeff N's" complaint can be easily dismissed based upon the following facts:  The person who rented the subject property signed the lease agreement as "Joshua Lindsey", and the property was reserved by him and his wife for a party of four.  It is unclear why he is filing his complaint under the name "Jeff N".  One can only speculate that the reason he uses aliases is that there are numerous complaints against a Joshua Lindsey from Utah on (((REDACTED))) and www.ripoffreport.com alleging that he is a scam artist.  Additionally, an enforcement action was brought against a Joshua Lindsey and others by the Utah Division of Securities alleging misrepresentation and other violations of the Utah Uniform Securities Act.

After reading the online complaints against Joshua Lindsey the owner of the subject property simply connected the dots and is now of the opinion that Mr. Lindsey is a scammer who makes quite a bit of money by taking advantage of others.  After he returned home to Utah, Mr. Lindsey atttempted to coerce the owner of the subject property into paying him more than $21,000.00, with threats of a lawsuit and the filing of online complaints if the owner did not comply.

Mr. Lindsey was advised via e-mail months before he came to California that the house he initially requested had been rented to another party.  In fact, Mr. Lindsey's wife Danielle contacted the owner a second time inquiring about the same property even though Mr. Lindsey had already been informed that it was not available.  She was informed again that the property she was interested in was still not available.  When offered a similar property in the same location during her telephone inquiry, she happily accepted and the couple signed a rental agreement for the alternate property.

Upon arrival in August, not only did the couple have a total of five people instead of four as disclosed in the rental agreement, they brought in two additional guests without authorization from the owner - a total of seven people.  Mr. Lindsey demanded that he be given the initial property even though he had known since March that it was not available.  The owner attempted to appease him by offering him $500.00 and a free week next summer at the other property, which Mr. Lindsey refused.  The owner believes that Mr. Lindsey was looking for bigger money, as is evidenced by his demand for $21,561.00, part of which is for "emotional distress".  This is his demand after he and his guests spent the week enjoying their vacation at the owner's beachfront property.  After checkout, the owner discovered that Mr. Lindsey and his guests caused nearly $1000.00 in damage to the property.

Witnesses state that Mr. Lindsey and his guests stayed at the house the entire week and appeared to be enjoying the beachfront property.  From the moment they arrived the owner was suspicious that they were up to no good.  The owner's biggest regret is that he didn't conduct an internet search for "Joshua Lindsey, Utah" before agreeing to rent the property to him. Had he done so, he would not have conducted business with him.

If you would like to see photos of the property and read honest, excellent reviews of both the property and the owner please see VRBO.com, property #336299 and property #471110.
