The afore mentioned letter stated that the reason for non-renewal was that we had no Central Air and Heat system! As a retired builder this was a real stupid reason.
I built this house and it is an open great room with a large AC in the A frame wall which supplies Air conditioning to the entire first floor area. Air units are in two 2nd story rooms and heat is by Space heaters used only when warranted.
If they knew what they were doing they would KNOW that in a structure of this type the ENTIRE first floor is a DUCT because of the open space!
Two large Fireplaces also provide heat WHEN NEEDED!
We are energy savers and the reason for non-renewal is unbeleivaable.
As a result of the prospect of our Mortgage company making us use their high rates if we could not get insurance, we tried and got 3 quotes
GET THIS:
1st CO. $ 7300, 2ND CO. $ 4047 3rd CO $ 3401
Bottom line !
ALL HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE COMPANIES are really RIPPING OFF THE PUBLIC and GETTING AWAY WITH IT!
Please let people know, not to deal with this one or others that are Raping consumers.

I see that the rebuttal comes from Lighthouse Point, FL. No name!
Hmmm! Is this from this great insurance company over two years after the report was filed?
As I recall, they accepted the insurance without any inspection, collected all the premiums for years and then come up with stupid excuses for not re-newing!
We are now facing foreclosure and actions of the State of Florida"s requiring rates to be determined and all insurance companies using their software and basing rates using INFLATED REPLACEMENT COSTS!
Another reason for so many foreclosed properties! Ours included.
This happened while attempting to get our mortgage co. (now chapter 11) to help us.
So, thank you Peoples Trust (misnamed), for your understanding and help during this continuing ordeal we are still being subjected too.
YEAH!

This company has done nothing wrong. One of the requirements of being a policy holder is central heating and air! Your system does not meet the requirement. Either you get Citizens or deal with the premium because most private companies will not cover you. Furthurmore, a ripoff is collecting payment and not providing a service. You obviously lied on the application ,who is the real victim here?

Since filing this report I have been getting more ridiculous quotes.
I found, by direct questioning that all companies in Florida, by aproval by Statute 624 ARE FREE to chamge rates, deny for ridiculous reasons and base the raised rates by using a REPLACEMENT FIGURE!
All they have to do is manipulate this , so called chart or whatever, mandated by the state and do anything they want to raise rates.!
Just to prove it, call arouund for quotes and see the travesty in action!
No wonder there are so many foreclosures. People on low fixed incomes like us cannot pay thes escalated costs and buy groceries and medical etc.
So, bottom line is theyeventually LOSE THEIR HOMES!!
ISN'T THIS A GREAT COUNTRY WE HAVE BECOME?
