One Saturday late in May, 2010 a door to door sales person came to our door.  He started out by saying he represented GE , which he thought was a well known company most would recognize and trust.

Then he proceeded to say he was representing a home security company called Pinnacle Security.  I found out later they use several different names. We did not have a home security system in our home and never thought we needed one.

He proceeded to tell us our home was chosen and we could have a system installed free. He then told us how much per month the monitoring fee would be and told us our home owners insurance premium would be reduced by maybe 20%. I never did find out if this was true or not.

Shortly after we agreed and signed the paperwork he left and two installers arrived.  They proceeded to install the system but were not able to get it wired into our phone lines correctly. After about three extra hours they left and said they thought it would work.

About 9 pm Saturday evening we tried to arm the system and it would not function correctly.  My wife and I discussed the situation and decided to comply with the terms of the contract we would need to fax the company within 3 business days and request a cancellation.  We did do that.

At the time we signed the contract we gave the sales person a blank check with void written on it so the company could automatically withdraw the monthly monitoring fee from our bank account.

On Sunday I got on the internet and read a lot of reports from this company's customers who were very unhappy with them.  On Monday we faxed the contract cancellation papers to the company.  We then closed out bank account and opened a new one.  I had read where they had withdrawn funds from customers who had not authorized it.

We notified the company and demamded they remove all the equipment they had installed and in a couple of days they did do it.  We were very lucky they never did get any money out of us, but the inconvenience of closing our bank account and opening a new one was a little time consuming.  I also learned from the internet this company has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau.

You know Sir you could have just asked your bank for a "Stop Payment" on the company it would have saved you from going through the task of setting up another bank account. Stop Payments just restrict the company in Question from taking anything from your accounts be it Savings or any other account you have opened.
