I cancelled my account with Pioneer as they constantly were finding new ways to take consumer money - listing charges as govenemental - when in fact they were Pioneer "recovery charges" - constantly changing the monthly service fee and - in short, every chance they had to rip you off - they were taking it. I closed my account. Now they are trying to allege a .20 call from December and then add their monthly fee, taxes, and more recovery fees for them for a total of $2.95. So - trying to collect $2.95 for a .20 phone call from over six weeks ago. GOOD LUCK PIONEER.
They were once a decent company - some years ago - now they are just total rip offs. There are other better long distance carriers and suggest you investigate the same before going with Pioneer.

Since I didn't see your name or contact info, I was unable to do any research on your account. In general, your city, state and federal representatives are responsible for assessing the large number of taxes and fees on telephone service. Telephone companies are regulated by each state's secretary of state, department of revenue and public utility commission as well as the Federal Communications Commission. All charges and fees are subject to a great amount of scrutiny by these entities. In addition, I think you'll find that we're no different from other telecoms in terms of taxes and fees.
