I like many people dont have a credit card and needed a rental for my family trip to California. Was told and shown on paperwork that our total would be $449(all taxes, surcharges, and insurance for a Luxury vehicle. Once he had given us the receipt that had the total for the rental and the cash deposit of $350, we signed it, he then told us the total after return would be over $600 so we decided not to go through with the rental. The owner then told us that since I was not going through with the rental it would be a $60 contract fee.

AT THAT POINT HE SAID, "THE RECEIPT IS THE CONTRACT AND YOU MUST PAY A $60 CONTRACT FEE OR I WILL KEEP ALL YOUR MONEY"

I advised him that I was contacting the police because nowhere was it stated that we had a contract fee and was told, "LEAVE MY STORE YOU ARE TRESSPASSING". This all with him still having my $750 in his possession. Once the police arrived we were not allowed to enter the store while they went over the details of what happened. The owner advised the officer that the receipt was the CONTRACT OF SALE, which we were never advised.

He then told the officer that we had to pay $100 and sign an agreement of contractual release stating the situation was settled or he would keep our money. The officer stated that we must pay the fee, sign the paper, and also gave contradicting advise to take him to court. The officer also stated that we should have read consumer reports and that several people have called the police and filed complaints to the Attorney General.

I WOULD LIKE TO FILE LEGAL ACTION TOWARD THIS COMPANY WITH HELP FROM OTHER CONSUMERS WHO HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF BY SABANS RENTAL CAR!!!!!
