When the day of the trip came, Jim didn't show. Not at least for 45 minutes after he said he would be there. He only had one boat, even though he knew we needed two. The trip was canceled on the spot. What a big letdown!
Right away, Jim personally promised to return the deposit.
Over the next couple weeks and months, Jim again promised by email to return the deposit.
At some point, Jim up and moved to Florida. Now, he has stopped saying he will return the deposit. "You do what you have to do," is how he put it the last time we spoke. If you've ever had somebody owe you money, you know those are the worst words you can expect to hear.
Jim will not disclose his Florida address. Mail is returned from his prior New York address.
I just hope this warning reaches others that would have suffered the same fate.

Well, as the date of the trip approached we contacted Jim and discovered he was having back surgery and couldn't make the trip. He assured us he would return the deposit but was having a little financial difficulty and needed a few weeks to get back on his feet. Jim also indicated he had 3 or 4 more clients that he had to cancel as well. Months later, we still have not received our deposit and Jim is not responding to our email's or text mesages.
I wish Annie and yourself well in the future Jim, but ruining your reputation and goodwill you established over the years is not worth the hundreds of dollars your stealing from your clients. As the saying goes, what goes around comes around
