I used Uship.com to help arrange shipping for a horse that I just purchased to ship from PA to CO. Of course I got several very competitive bids & the best within reason was SummerSide Horse Transport LLC aka Ryan Hooper. I asked several questions before I accepted his bid & all seemed to be in order. Even after I accepted his bid all was going super, he contacted me immediately got the contract to me quickly, scheduled a pick up day for the horse & even kept me posted on every detail sometimes calling/emailing me a couple times a day.

I should have seen the warning signs!!! Such as when he overnighted the contract to me instead of just emailing. Than the contract looked like he cut & paste from several other contracts and the places where he had to fill in himself was so poorly written that it took me a while to figure out what he was saying. Example straight from his contract: "If you dot wont us to any thing with the horse(S)". I just fell sorry for him since he was trying so hard.

The day he got the deposit check (only 60 bucks thank goodness) & cashed it which was Friday & he was suppose to pick up the horse Sunday. He called me to inform me that due to a freak snow storm he would have to delay the trip & he didn't know when he could pick up the horse. Okay! I definitely don't want my new horse being shipped on icy bad roads, so I agree with him to delay but to keep me in the loop.

I figured that I should also ask him more about his trailer since I didn't know what he hauled his horses in so I email him and  he informed me that it was just a bumper pull two horse slant trailer. When I asked for a photo he said it was in the shop & he wouldn't have it for a couple of days. If the snow storm didn't hit he was suppose to be pick up the horse on Sunday & supposedly his trailer was still in the shop?!?

Because of this I decide to watch the weather on the East Coast! The storm comes & goes within a 24 hr period but I hear nothing from Ryan & days go by so I try to email, call & text him, nothing.  Finally after I text him telling him that if he does not get back to me immediately I will be taking this to Uship & will be cancelling the service!! Sure enough, I get a call & he tells me good news he will be able to leave tomorrow & pick the horse the following day.

So I decide to do a little more research on him since he is giving a lot of BS on his end. He updates his profile on Uship that evening even adding his trailer is an Air Ride Van not what he told me. Than I found his Facebook page where he listed that he is employed by McDonald's as a Crew Member & has been there for about a year. With absolutely nothing about his horse transportation & boarding business. A quick side note: I have nothing against service workers in fact I work in a service industry, it's just suspicious to me that someone who is very proud of their business wouldn't say something about it or have feed back from others who shipped with him on their Facebook page.

I contact Uship to inform them what is happening & give them the previous Ripeoff report I found on him & I was able to cancel his service with the additional funds I had put down. Sure enough Ryan calls me within a couple of hours saying that the Ripoff Report was from a friend of his that was just mad at him & not from actual customer.

This guy is a joke!! He has no attention of picking up your horse & I'm lucky I just lost $60!! There has been several other people who have lost a lot more. The Great news is Uship will no longer allow his services on their website however I think he will continue to try this scam else where. Please beware!!!!

You ever watch the show shipping wars, anyone that will haul anything for nothing isn't worth having. Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. There are people out there that do nothing but haul horses and have been doing it for years, they know what they are doing and they won't take less than they need because that is not how a business is run. That goes for anything, when someone takes a shipment that they are not going to make money on then they don't care what happens to it, and alot of people will take them just to get in a different place or to get home.

All I'm saying, if you called the right people in the first place instead of trying to get it done for nothing you wouldn't be here. What is your horse worth?
