In July 2014, I hired Carlos Goilarte of “Touch of Cleaning” aka “Touch of Painting” to paint the exterior of my property.  I clearly requested that Carlos and his crew cover my brand new $3,000.00 aluminum fence.  Carlos assured that he would properly prep the property and completely cover my teak patio furniture along with all personal property on the exterior.

After two days of painting, I stopped home to find the men spraying the posterior wall of my home…the fence was uncovered.  I walked around to stop them and inspect their work and the nightmare began.  The fence was covered with overspray from the home.  As I began to look around, I noticed that nothing on the porch was covered.  There was paint coating everything I inspected; teak furnishings, landscape lights, doormats, storage cases, the BBQ grill, even the hurricane shutters displayed a light film of house paint, speckled across the surface.

I immediately stopped the men from their work and called Carlos (who does not stay onsite and does not monitor the work that he advertises).  He assured me, “no problem, no problem…we will clean it all up”.  I reluctantly allowed this effort and I am sorry that I did.  I walked out to find the men applying paint stripper to the fence…this incorrect application left bubbles of damage.  As I walked along the fence, I realized that the thinner was stripping away the surface in many areas.  I had only just had it installed the week prior.

As I began to realize the amount of damage that Carlos and his crew were causing, I asked that they promptly leave my residence and not return.

I attempted to file a claim with Carlos’ insurance company but was informed THAT HE WAS NOT PERMITTED TO PAINT RESIDENCES, that he was only licensed and insured to clean under the business name, “Touch of Cleaning General Services”.

Carlos and his company never attempted to reimburse me for the damage that they caused despite my requests that they do so.  This project has cost me an incredible amount of money and most of it has been spent backtracking in the attempt to replace my personal belongings.  All I wanted was to have my house painted.

Please stay away from Mr. Carlos Goularte and his companies, he has caused over $3,000.00 in damage to my personal property.

I have filed complaints with the State of Florida, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the Better Business Bureau, and have informed the local media of this fictitious business he is operating.
