Chris Green of Visual Concepts does lousy work and doen't even seem to know what he is doing.  One camera was wired through the trees, one of which is dying.  When finished the Cameras plugs were plugged into cheap surge protectors with the wiring running through the side of the house.

He claims he backs his work but I had trouble from the start.  I was supposed to be able to watch the cameras from my bedroom TV but couldn't.   The wiring behind the livingroom TV was wound so tight and the actual connections so loose that I couldn't dust without something coming loose.  One camera was getting reflections from the sun and he claimed it was a bad camera.  He DID replace the camera, however since it was reflection it still happens.  The second camera went out in less than 4 months at which time he wanted $85.00 to come out because I lived so far from Charlotte (24 miles).  He said the camera was under warranty for a year but not his work.

He doesn't return phone calls and says he will call you back and doesn't.  He says he's coming out and never does.  I have waited all day for him.

It wasn't until my son told him he was going to contact the local TV station that he finally came out to fix the mess he made and supposedly fix the broken camera.  He replaced the transformers, ie the plugs on all the cameras as one of those were overheating also.  Guess what the camera is still not working and when I tried to view another camera the whole system went to blue and is not responding.  He is supposed to come back out but that remains to be seen.  However my son did contact the TV station and they are now involved.  They loved it when he told me they were customers of his and said it made "a richer story".

I am out $1,800 plus the damage to my home.  I believe life is one consecutive lesson and if I learned something then it was worth it.  Now I want everyone to learn from my expensive lesson and take heed.

Video Concepts Rebuttal

AUTHOR: Lynne - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 08, 2012

This is in reply to the gentleman that had Video Concepts install his surround sound after his electrician recommended Chris Green.

I find it interesting that he was able to find all these glowing reports about Video Concepts when Mr. Green could not produce EVEN one recommendation, nor could I find anything on the internet about the company.  That should have been a red flag for me then but I felt sorry for the guy and am one who feels everyone deserves a shot.

I'm happy the gentleman is so satisfied with his surround sound and hope he never has to deal with the mess I am left with.  I have holes drilled into my walls with wires running through them and caulking haphazardly placed around them.  One hole has nothing going through it,  I guess that must have been a 'mistake'.  Wires that have been spliced and rewired to other wiring and plugs which run into cheap surge protecters which spark at the very touch.

One camera was promised to be replaced years ago however Mr. Green never returned to replace it.  Yet upon reading my initial report to Ripoff Report.com,  Mr. Green wasted no time leaving me a message which did not return because I wasn't about to argue about the mess.

When I paid him he did not want his partner to know how much and his initial quote was for ALL supplies yet he complained loudly about having to buy a couple of lights.

One good thing has happened however, I found a way to turn off the cameras alarms even though Mr. Green told me they could not be turned off.  So now if I want to risk the fire hazard I can run my cameras without listening to thier alarms the whole time.

I completely stand by my initial complaint and recommend that if you need a contractor to do anything make sure he/she comes widely recommended by many or Angies List.  Don't make the same mistake I did and feel sorry for them.

Installation of Surround Sound and Outdoor Speakers

AUTHOR: Charlotte Customer - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, October 07, 2012

By recommendation of my electrician, I contacted Chris Green of Visual Concepts for installation of my home surround sound system.  Visual Concepts was able to up fit my older system with new interior and exterior speakers.  All of the equipment I purchased from the company was top of the line and the service received was very professional.  All of our communication was timely, calls were returned  and appointments were prompt.

I had been searching for a long time for someone to install my home sound system that would provide good service at a reasonable price and work with the older equipment that I had.  In going to a few other installation companies, their recommendations were to purchase an entirely new system, instead of working with the less than 10 year old Yamaha that I have.  That wasn't the recommendation of Visual Concepts.

Since my home was built in 1946, the studs in my house are not even which made installation not a typical job.  When you come into my home, it looks like the system was built with the house. There are no exposed wires anywhere, inside or out.  The speakers blend into the walls on the inside and the outside speakers are barely noticeable.

After my initial consultation with Visual Concepts, I did do a search on the web for any information that I could find on the company. I found lots of comments and pictures of professional work that was done and satified customers.  The only negative information I found was on this site. Chris Green offered many clients that I could contact for recommendations but since Visual Concepts came via recommendation to me, I didnt contact anyone else. My electrician had worked with this company for years on multiple jobs with new and existing construction.

Its disappointing that this one report of an unsatisfied client is out there.  The work I received was nothing like what was reported here.  I love my system, inside and outdoors.  Visual Concepts did a wonderful job.  Im having them come back later in the year to add additional speakers installed into my current system for upstairs, with a couple of safety cameras for blind spots in my yard.
