Voxbone SA called and eluded that they were from Comcast and stated that they were getting error messages from our router and computer. The person calling could barely speak English. I tried to find out what they wanted, but did not get an answer due to the fact that the caller kept asking personal and business information, of which I would not give out.

The number that showed up on the Caller ID was 510.943.3040. In trying to do a reverse lookup, there was no information. In checking the internet, I found several sites that had other fraud acts committed by this company.

If this company contacts you, call your internet or telephone provider. You may also call your local law enforcement, but there is little chance that they can do anything for you since there is no way to track Voxbone SA.

My 80 year old grandmother received a call from someone claiming to be Michelle Roberts from Mega Millions Sweepstakes, a sweepstakes that my grandmother has sent nearly all of the small amount of money she has available, and was informed that she won $600,000. This spineless individual calling herself "Michelle Roberts" stated that the check will arrive tomorrow via Fedex. This was of course a SCAM, but if Voice over Internet Providers will allow this service than there needs to be an indicator that the incoming phone number is not the actual Area Code of the number of the call, and actual idenification needs to be revealed. To target our elders because of their lack of networking knowledge is so despicable that it is un explained
able, and IT must be STOPPED!!

Hello,

We are sorry to hear about the scam described above, and it's sad for us to see that somebody is trying to link this to our company. With this reply, I would like to clarify our role and responsibilities.

Voxbone is a telecommunications operator, and the phone number mentioned above used to belong to one of our customers. We deactivated the number a long time ago, and it is no longer operational. At Voxbone, we take all measures within our control to prevent any misuse of our telecommunications network or telephone numbers.

However, if somebody spoofs our name and/or one of our telephone numbers as a caller name and/or caller ID, we cannot be held responsible for their action. Unfortunately, there are ways to spoof any name or number for unsolicited phone calls without having any connection to the operator or owner of that phone number.

We encourage any victim of unsolicited phone calls to report them to the authorities, with whom we cooperate as a telecom operator. Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Voxbone Marketing
