UPDATE Employee Confusion

AUTHOR: 167294 - ()

POSTED: Monday, July 15, 2013

To update the wonderful things I/we have discovered about the Acer repair center in Temple, Texas, I began to call other repair centers that I have found through Google. Unbelievably, not one other repair center asked me to send it in! I was told how to do it over the phone. And, they helped me back up all my files to the other computer in my house! So, while we are all having problems with the repair center in Temple, Texas, I would reccommend just skipping to the second one on the list; just because they turn on Google clicks, doesn't mean we should choose them. Shame on the Temple, Texas repair center. And thank you to all the others that really want to help when they can.

UPDATE Employee Confusion

To the tech that wrote in that works at the repair center in Temple, TX. I, as do most everyone I have shared this with, find it interesting that your company is able to put a $199 flat rate price on all " liquid damaged " items that come through your place of business. How is it possible to know what has affected every computer, laptop, netbook, etc., and that everyone of those parts will always add up to the same price? And, if that were the case, which I'm sure it's not, why wouldn't your company just fix that problem?

I called the support tech line when my netbook had an issue. But before I called him, I checked, and went through everything the Acer website told me to do. Even did the video instructions. Anyways, talked to the support line. Explained it to him, he confirmed that I did all the troubleshooting the website offers, then walked me through some tests, and he told me that it was a common problem being caused by the new Windows 8 program, and it needed to be sent in, it could not be done over the phone. He assured me that I was under warranty, and there was no out of pocket cost for me to fix it. So I sent it to your plant in Temple, TX.

I recieved a message from Temple, TX, saying that they found evidence of water damage on the, " uppercase keyboard mainboard ram lowercase engine load door ". I returned their call, and the nice lady informed me that the repair was done, but something was not working right so they took it apart to check it. It would seem to me that an inspection should have been done prior to working on someones property, as to keep from being liable for anything that might have been wrong with it. But that didn't happen, and all your phone calls are recorded, so for that I'm thankful. I'm also thankful,( and reccommend that others do the same), that I bought the liquid spill, cracked screen, and drop warranty from where I bought it from for, $20.00. Yep, twenty bucks.

Eventually the word will get out, complaints will, and should be filed with the B.B.B., and the profits will drop, people will notice and want to know why. They will look into it. They will find out why. I, on the other hand, as do many others, already know. I am writing letters, emails, making phone calls to attorneys, to State and Federal Representatives, news stations, investagational journalists. And, I will file a complaint once a day for the next twenty years if I have to. Companies with policies in place like this, should not be allowed to operate wihin the borders of the United States of America. In fact, there are laws in place that say they can't. Yep, it's time for people to take notice. Eventually, the right one will notice, and the mistreatment and usery of the customers will not be allowed to continue.

Thank you.

to repair tech

AUTHOR: kat - ()

Acer Service Corp said me I spilled something on it and wanted from me $200 to repair. I know for sure I did not spill anything. And I'd rather cut my losses at this point (I lost $500 for the faulty Acer laptop) than lose another $200. In fact I am not spending a penny on Acer's crap any more. It is simple - just stop buying Acer.

for the repair tech

Response for the repair tech w/Acer...I'm sending my laptop that I just purchased 2 months ago as a gift for my daughter, off to Acer for repairs (getting a blank screen when starting). I know for a fact there was NO liquid damage, as I monitor her use in her room (which means no food or drink is allowed in her room). Can you give me your technical advice on what could have done this? She may have used her notebook about 10 times since receiving it for Christmas. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

liquid spills and confused customers

AUTHOR: me - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 28, 2011

As a repair tech at the Temple TX repair center I find it amazing how so many acer owners that send there notebooks/netbooks in get so confused about a liquid spill that we so often find. 99% of the time we pull the keyboard off and there it is.... Liquid spill on the mainboard, upper case, etc. We take pictures and create a incident for our call center to communicate to the owner that there is a liquid spill and that there will be a $199 charge for parts needed to be replace. Almost every time the owner gets mad and throws a fit saying they did not spill liquids on the computer. Then there are those who either have admitted to it before they sent the computer in or understand they have damaged the computer and pay without a fuss. Liquid ruins electronic componenets, its no secret. In some cases as a tech I will over look the spill if it is very minor even if it means replaceing main components. My point is even if you had issues before the liquid spill, Acer has to look at the facts of why the computer is not acting right and 9 out of 10 a liquid spill will cause many issues, including yours.

Can only hope.

I can only hope that an English course (or two) is part of your college curriculum.

Surely there are many places on campus where you can use a computer for free; library, computer lab, etc.

Heck, even the community colleges around here will let you sign out a laptop for a limited period of time.  You should be able to use a computer while you're waiting for your machine to be prepared.  The only difficulty you have is that you'll have to do your classwork from someplace other than your dorm room/home.

Expecting your computer repaired and returned in one week is unreasonable.

Should they refuse to repair it, do post a follow-up report and tell us why.

So

AUTHOR: Susan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 16, 2009

So they have had your computer for 7 days and are waiting for a part.

From the photo you included, it looks like milk was splattered on it.  Why did you say that made them say " if their were any spills then i would be responsible for the charges," I hope you at least cleaned the case before you sent it in.

Either way kiddo, they have only been trying to fix your dirty computer for 7 days and are waiting on parts.

Funny how you say "i am a college student online and every day i am without my computer gets me bad grades and i need my computer"

Call me silly but instead of hunting places to complain about your dirty computer, and filing this report. Maybe you should be doing your school work.  You obviously can because you are online complaining.

FYI: I hope you cleaned the porn off your hard drive before you sent it in.  My husbands boss sent his Acer in for repairs.  He is on the sex offender list forever now and lost his job.
