The doctors here ... Seemingly use your most sickest complex case of a pet as their cash cow and when that pet dies makes sure they order unnecessary tests that aren't even warranted by Angells to make sure they make money from you. They knew the dog we had that was complex needed prednisone. Maybe they thought she would die sooner than she did since they always made the comments they were surprised she was still standing (so compassionate in their wording) that they stated prednisone was a harsh medicine that would eventually cause kidney failure but that was a slower process. After giving our records to a new vet who's been in business for 26 years and graduated from Tufts, she didn't understand why the prednisone was given without stating to an owner that this medication will cause ulcerations in the esophagus among other areas. Considering she saw records from Angells that said our dog had severe IBD that a medication to prevent acid reflux and ulcerations in general wouldn't be given after starting prednisone. Yes ulcer meds can cause issues with the kidney but our dog was on this with no mention of ulcers in the beginning until we saw something strange and then they said yes it sounds exactly like ulcers but unless you do a 400-500 ct scan snd blood work on top of that we won't give you the meds. Our dog ended up bleeding out due to their lack of bringing this up, knowing how much we paid not only with them but tufts, and Angells. They just try to find ways to get even more money out. Not to mention it was reiterated over and over that the kidneys would go first and that would be a slow drawn out process. No mention of ulcers bleeding. Their front desk staff will sometimes ask you if a medication can wait to be filled because they are so swamped. They are open 11 hours. It's not our fault Drs that are familiar with the case of our pets work a half day once a week or 2 days a week. You can bring this up to them and they'll give you the generic oh we are sorry you're not satisfied. We have had to call 2-3 times to get an appointment to be seen as we never got a call back, we have had a dog that's ears were prone to yeast infections and there was years worth of records on this but they always needed to check just incase charging full price for the visits when that particular dog would see them weekly whether for shots or X-rays etc. They give you records where they say they've spoken yo hospitals where the owner seems confused and wants to pull them out of the hospital. They should really follow up with the owners since we had said if the dog couldn't come out of oxygen we would have to put the second dog down. No once did we say that we needed this place to take over. We knew they didn't have Icu. But this place never follows up instead writes things in the record that are fraudulent and very inaccurate. You got Dr Illingworth that will tell my wife that during a physical if she wanted to add a test on what the price would be. Then on a visit literally a week later I ask if she can quickly look at the 3rd dogs eye and she doesn't say oh I can but it will cost you over 100 ontop of your other dog today, knowing we spent in the last two years with 2 sick dogs over 10,000 .. 4500 just in February along because our littlest one was hospitalized. They throw in your face that you're such good owners because you spend so much but they truly make sure they throw in tests that aren't warranted. We wanted a chest X-ray of the youngest done the same day she needed a check up. They said Andrew the owner has to do the X-ray? Which is funny because with the 2 that had heart issues anytime of the week when the dogs had fluid in the lungs they would check he wasn't on those days because we pretty much lived there. We then see they added on a recheck of an ultrasound which only Weitzman can do when Angells and tufts didn't require that. He did the same thing with our dog who had CHF. She had a whole run up at tufts with their cardiologist and 4 weeks later all that they needed was a chest X-ray but the owner performed a full echo. Charged us half price but it wasn't needed. He said he needed it for his records yet couldn't praise the cardiologist enough at tufts but evidently needed to double check himself. Funny thing is the cardiologist said he spoke to Weitzman in depth about our sicker dog and what was needed. Then as stated that can see a dog on a Monday and then if you have to bring them back to acorn on a Wednesday you're still charged pretty much full price for a ck. The vet we see now only charges half price for a recheck or not at all. Don't let this place add on unnecessary tests. They think she might have cushings wanted to order a expensive test for that when two hospitals said she doesn't. She's not even drinking so she wouldn't have cushings. If you feel like getting the run around and being swindled this place is for you. If you want to watch your dog bleed out because no one told you meds would cause severe ulcers until it's too late this place is for you. They should be ashamed of themselves. Be an advocate for your pet. Start researching everything yourself. They might not like being questioned because they think with the letters behind their name they know it all but as we have seen many vets have made mistakes. Don't be afraid to call them out. If you have a pet that is complex go to Angells they are smarter than these Drs and tufts combined. If you have something minor then maybe you'd like these Drs who take advantage of you when you're dealing with a death of a pet and thousands and thousands of dollars dished out.
